He used it to plan his wedding to the real Princess Peach.

Dolly is a toy modeled after Princess Peach that appears in Paper Mario. It belongs to Goombaria. Mario can find the doll by hitting the rightmost tree in Jr. Troopa's territory in the woods behind Goomba Village. When Mario returns the doll to Goombaria, she gives him a Star Piece and a kiss.

A similar doll previously appeared in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
