Nintendo Comics System No. 1 is the first issue of the Nintendo Comics System comic series. The issue was released by Valiant Comics in 1990.[1] The front cover features Mario, Link, and Kevin Keene on a black background, while the back features Mario jumping off the issue's barcode.
This issue contains an introduction to the comic series, which is shown below:
Comics for Nintendo players!
Now there's an idea! They'd have to be fast-paced. Intelligent. Sophisticated. Literate. Intriguing. Involving. Funny.
Why?
Because Nintendo players are smart, discerning, tasteful people with a sense of humor.
Lots of companies would have loved to have published comics for Nintendo players. But the nice people at Nintendo picked us-VALIANT. They thought we'd do the best job. We will.
So here it is, the moment we've all been waiting for. Welcome to Nintendo Comics System #1.
This introduction is also used in Super Mario Bros. Special Edition No. 1, with the title of the issue mentioned being replaced with this issue's title.
