A Shy Guy in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!

Shy Guys will patrol left to right, but a collision will defeat a Mini Mario or Mario himself. In Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mario can ride them or pick and throw them (as in Super Mario Bros. 2). Exclusively in the Spooky House boss stage of the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong will hit one of three Color Switches to transform the other two unselected and unheld Shy Guys into floating forms resembling Phantom Guys with auras. In Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, Mini Marios can also ride Shy Guys to safely cross certain hazards, although touching the top of a Shy Guy (or any other enemy) will instead instantly break a Mini Mario in later titles. In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, Shy Guys[5] additionally wield spears, but only hold them upright. However, their spears can pass through red girders, harming any above Mini Marios. Unique to Minis March Again!, upon activation of a red Color Switch, Shy Guys transform into stationary solid blocks. When in this state, Shy Guys can be used as a step or bridge to cross harmful areas. Shy Guys can be defeated with hammers.

It is unknown if the Mario Toy Company created these toys, but most likely they did not (as they appear to be foes of Mario). They have windup keys behind them, though.

In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, Shy Guys can also fill Shy Guy Blocks[2].
