Many different crafts appear in the background and foreground of almost every level in Yoshi's Crafted World. Yoshi can throw an egg at one to receive coins; for most crafts, hitting one sends it flying into the air or knocks it down (in the case of 5 small stripy fish, they spin rapidly when hit away from signposts), and Yoshi can earn more coins by throwing multiple eggs at it and racking up a combo before it disappears by fading away on the ground, falling into a pit, or sinking into water or lava. Some crafts hang in strings, and if Yoshi hits one with an egg, it swings, spins or does both. Yoshi cannot aim at a craft if it is too far away from him.

After clearing a world, the Blockafeller asks Yoshi to bring it souvenirs in the form of crafts from a specific level. Many crafts are found only on the flip side, while some crafts are found in each level in the world. Once he has found one, Yoshi needs to throw an egg at it to "collect" it, which attaches a green-spotted label to the craft. After Yoshi has collected all of the requested crafts, the player is then given the option to leave or continue the current level. Upon returning to the world map, the Blockafeller rewards Yoshi with a Smiley Flower.

There are a total of 121 requested crafts in the game, although there are also crafts found in many levels that are never requested by any Blockafellers, such as bushes, white sheep, cardboard rocks, bluebirds, and jack-o'-lanterns.
