Dino Smash is the first level of Dino Desert in Yoshi's Crafted World. It is a desert level with its main gimmick being that Yoshi wears a triceratops skull on his head to break blocks and defeat enemies.

Front side[edit]

The level begins with an arrow sign pointing to a triceratops skull that Yoshi can wear. A wall of breakable dirt blocks is found next, with Shy Guys around it and Coins inside and above it. Next is a tall Shy Guy Tower carrying the first Smiley Flower. After more Shy Guys, Yoshi finds five Item Balloons each carrying a Heart. Next, Yoshi must ground pound multiple dirt blocks, having to lose his triceratops skull in the process, to reach the first Check Point.

Yoshi is blocked off by some dirt blocks, which are smashed by a Skall Heyho on the other side. After an Egg Block, a red Time Cloud appears. Yoshi must hit three Shy Guys, each carrying Blue Coins to earn a Smiley Flower. After a Winged Cloud with hearts, a blue Time Cloud above five bone platforms appears, making apples appear around the platforms. After a bridge of dirt blocks above ground, Yoshi reaches a pillar of dirt blocks with another triceratops skull on top. Once a Skall Heyho smashes the blocks, Yoshi can wear the skull. Yoshi can is then required to break through more dirt blocks to reach the second Check Point.

Next, Yoshi reaches a large set of dirt blocks, in the formation of a castle. Shy Guys are found inside and around it. Afterward, Yoshi must break through four small stacks of dirt blocks each with a Bon-Bom on it. Next, Yoshi must ground pound down through more dirt blocks and break through another wall of them. Five Item Balloons with hearts are found before a large mud pond that Yoshi must cross. Yoshi must traverse small pieces of ground, some with dirt blocks, along with Shy Guys and Bon-Boms in the way. After crossing the pond, Yoshi finds a large set of dirt blocks with many Shy Guys. A spring is found at the end, propelling Yoshi to the path to the goal.

Flip side[edit]

The fence on the flip side is shown to be brown as opposed to light blue on the front side. Both areas where Yoshi had to ground pound down some dirt blocks now has a spring and the dirt blocks removed. The light-blue Poochy Pup is found in the dirt block castle area, at a wall. The black Poochy Pup is found right after the first Check Point, shortly after the light-blue Poochy Pup. It pokes out from two holes in the background. The pink Poochy Pup is found at the top of the tall Shy Guy Tower, in place of the first Smiley Flower.

Smiley Flowers[edit]

  • Smiley Flower 1: Carried by a tall Shy Guy Tower after the first large set of dirt blocks.
  • Smiley Flower 2: After the Egg Block, a red Time Cloud is found. Yoshi must throw eggs at three Shy Guys carrying Blue Coins to earn the flower.
  • Smiley Flower 3: Shortly after the second flower, Yoshi must hit a blue Time Cloud to make five apples appear. Eating them all within the time limit makes the Smiley Flower appear.
  • Smiley Flower 4: Right after the third flower, Yoshi must Ground Pound a bridge of dirt blocks, then move to the left under two platforms to reveal a hidden Winged Cloud.
  • Smiley Flower 5: After the second Check Point, at the top of the castle of dirt blocks. Yoshi must not break most of the blocks to reach it.
  • Smiley Flower 6: Just before the goal, Yoshi must use a spring without breaking any of the dirt blocks it is on to be propelled high enough to reach the Smiley Flower.

Three more Smiley Flowers are awarded for collecting at least 100 coins in the level, completing the level with 20 hearts, and collecting all 20 Red Coins.

Found on the flip side:

  • Beach Umbrella: Found on a hill in the background right after the muddy pond.

Found on the front side:

  • Bejeweled Monument: Found in a group with nine non-bejeweled others at the spot with the second triceratops skull. It is the seventh one from the left.

Found on the front side:

  • Cactus Rock 1: At the first castle of dirt blocks, behind the last set.
  • Cactus Rock 2: At the spot with the first Check Point, in the foreground on the far left.
  • Cactus Rock 3: In the foreground of the area with the blue Time Cloud.
  • Cactus Rock 4: Right at the spot with the second Check Point. Yoshi must remove his equipped triceratops skull to hit it.

Sprout is found at the spot with the bridge of dirt blocks, near the fourth Smiley Flower. Yoshi must ground pound the bridge to find Sprout partially buried in the sand.
