Pinchlys first appear in the [[Beach]] area, the third level of the [[Ruins]] area, [[Mast Blast]], and later in the [[Cliff]] area. Pinchlys move from side to side, and can only hurt [[Donkey Kong]] or [[Diddy Kong]] if they come in contact with them. In addition, they move quicker than their weaker variant, the [[Snaps]]. To defeat a Pinchly, the [[Kong]]s have to bounce on its head, and then [[Ground Pound]] the area next to it when its claws are up. This will flip it over, and it will be vulnerable to a jump. They can also roll at them while their claws are up to defeat them.
When the [[Kong]]s jump on a Pinchly, it raises its pincers. During this, the Kongs can [[Ground Pound]] next to the Pinchly to flip it over, then jump on the Pinchly to defeat it. If the Kongs do not defeat the Pinchly quickly enough, it gets back upright and resumes moving around. The Kongs can also defeat a Pinchly by rolling into it while its pincers are raised, or by rolling on top of it from a higher platform while its pichers are low.

A Pinchly (pluralized as Pinchlys[1][2] or Pinchlies[3]) is a type of red crab enemy that appears in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They are essentially a stronger variant of Snippys, though unlike Snippys, Pinchlys wear a blue and white pirate bandanna.

Pinchlys first appear in the Beach world as prominent enemies, later appearing in the Mast Blast and Tippy Shippy levels. Like Snippys, they simply move from side to side, though they are quicker. If Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong gets in contact with a Pinchly, it pinches them, and the Kongs lose a heart.

When the Kongs jump on a Pinchly, it raises its pincers. During this, the Kongs can Ground Pound next to the Pinchly to flip it over, then jump on the Pinchly to defeat it. If the Kongs do not defeat the Pinchly quickly enough, it gets back upright and resumes moving around. The Kongs can also defeat a Pinchly by rolling into it while its pincers are raised, or by rolling on top of it from a higher platform while its pichers are low.

A piece of concept artwork titled "Pinchly & Pal", unlockable in-game, shows a Pinchly next to an unknown red crab with a sword replacing its right pincer. However, this specific crab is not featured in any level.
