| 1 | Thief Wario |
Ball o' String Wario tumbles quickly and uncontrollably, only changing direction by bouncing off walls. This form is the only thing capable of breaking through certain blocks. After hitting walls enough times, the string falls off Wario and he stands dizzily for a few moments. |
| 2 | Cosmic Wario |
Bouncy Wario springs uncontrollably, which can be used to reach new areas, but also can be used to force Wario to backtrack in downward-oriented segments. Depending on the game, holding the jump button may make him jump higher or faster. He is returned to normal after enough bounces. |
| 3 | Arty Wario |
Bubble Wario is found only in underwater sections when touching large bubbles that come out of cracks in walls. He constantly moves slowly upward, with the player only being able to control his left and right movement, and is able to pass through currents unaffected. Like Bouncy Wario, it is helpful when traveling upward, but a hindrance when traveling downward. Touching any surface, including the surface of the water, pops the bubble and returns Wario to normal. |
| 4 | Genius Wario |
Crazy Wario stumbles about in an inebriated manner, occasionally stopping or changing direction. He can jump, but is still difficult to control. In the former game, he can also spew toxic gas that slowly moves across the screen to defeat enemies. In the former game, he stuns enemies on contact, while in the latter, touching enemies reverts him to normal. Falling in water returns him to normal in both games. |
| 5 | Sparky Wario |
Electric Wario bounces backwards once while being zapped, then stands in place with a frazzled expression for a few moments before returning to normal. Its only positive is it defeats enemies on contact in its duration. |
| 6 | Captain Wario |
Fat Wario is much heavier, which means he moves slow, jumps low, and cannot perform other basic moves, but enemies are defeated by being flung off-screen if they touch him, landing causes shockwaves that stun all enemies on-screen, certain blocks can only be destroyed by jumping on them in this form, and some elevators can be forced downward. After walking or jumping enough times, he returns to normal. |
| 7 | Dragon Wario |
Flaming Wario is a heavily recurring form that generally features two segments. The first involves Wario running around uncontrollably with his suspenders on fire, with the player only able to make him jump and Wario only turning when he touches a surface, with enemies being stunned if they hit him. After several moments, he becomes the second form where his entire body is on fire, where he moves much slower, can no longer jump but can now be steered, defeats enemies on contact, and can destroy certain blocks. After a few moments of this, Wario becomes covered in ash before shouting it off, returning to normal. In both states, falling in water instantly returns him to normal. |
| 8 | Wicked Wario |
Flat Wario can drift through the air by jumping or falling off ledges, allowing him to cross wide gaps, collect many coins, and reach tight ledges. He can also make it through low areas with small pits that normal Wario would fall in if he attempted to crawl. However, this form moves very slowly on the ground while making a repetitive high-pitched noise. Falling in water, touching a falling drop, taking damage, being grabbed by a D-Bat or Omodonmeka in the first two games, or entering a decompressor in the final game returns him to normal. |
