Spyguys are toylike Black Shy Guys with a jet attached, which allows them to hover in mid-air. They appear in Lava Dome in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, where they hover from left to right and stop briefly upon hitting a wall. A Mini can ride a Spyguy if they approach it from above; however, if a Mini touches its fire from underneath, the Mini is burned and destroyed. Spyguys can be permanently defeated with either hammers or a Fire Flower.

If ground is directly below a Spyguy, it stops briefly, then walks like a standard Shy Guy instead of hovering with its jet. If a grounded Spyguy approaches a pit, it stops briefly again before hovering in mid-air as usual. Otherwise, its movement remains the same.

In the Construction Zone, Spyguys can be used in the Lava Dome construction kit, Special Kit 1, Special Kit 2, and Special Kit 3.
