Template:Character-infobox Colonel Pluck is the seventh and penultimate boss of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. He is fought at the end of Factory in the boss level, Feather Fiend. Colonel Pluck operates and moves around in the Stompybot 3000. While Colonel Pluck is under control by the Tiki Tak Tribe, after being hypnotized by Cordian, he is forced to mass-produce a large quantity of Tiki enemies. He does this by using the Stompybot 3000 to mash up bananas which transform into Tikis when coming in contact with masks.

General information

Physical description

Colonel Pluck is a white chicken that wears goggles with a black frame. He has a limp, red comb on his head and has quite a long neck and wings for a chicken. He also has four tips at the end of his wing, which has function as finger for him while he is working.

Attacks

In the first phase, Colonel Pluck controls the Stompybot 3000, walking around the stage. The duo must make their way under the robot. Occasionally, it will run across the screen quickly. Sometimes, Colonel Pluck will lift the robot into the air and then perform a ground pound on the ground. When green chains appear at some point, he will start lifting the legs into the air and back on the ground, one at a time, but very rarely will Pluck try to trick the apes by just scratching the floor with his mechanical feet, which Donkey and Diddy can not go under. If Donkey and Diddy fail to damage Pluck, he will roast the Kongs with a flame jet, but not before lifting one of the robot's legs, giving the Kongs a small chance to escape.

During the second phase, Pluck will send in some eggs, where BuckBots will hatch out. Donkey Kong must rid of these so he has enough room to avoid Pluck, who will try to use the Stompybot to body-slam him from above, resulting in the Stompybot getting stuck in the ground for a second before freeing itself.

Combat

After damaging the Stompybot 3000 three times, the robot's outer shell will break off, and will resemble a flying vehicle. Pluck, who still is inside the robot, will send in BuckBots at this point. Donkey Kong must dodge his attacks and stomp on Pluck three times. After this, Cordian will emerge, allowing Donkey Kong to send it flying off into the distance.

Stomp all night, stomp all day. Colonel Pluck has been hypnotized by the Tiki Tak Tribe to mash bananas with his Stompybot 3000. Looks like they're creating new tribe members with the resulting juice. Hopefully they're peeling those bananas... Nothing worse than leftover peel in a banana smoothie. He stomps stolen bananas into mush with his giant stomping machine. Why does he do it? Because the Tiki Tak Tribe are controlling him - that's why! They're using the banana mush to create new tribe members. Who knew bananas were so magical?

Trivia

  • Colonel Pluck's name and him being a chicken might be based on Harland David Sanders, also known as Colonel Sanders, the original founder of the KFC chain of restaurants.
  • The first line of Colonel Pluck's trophy description in the American English version is a reference to the song "Shake It Up" by The Cars.
