Acks are insect-like enemies that appear in the Wii game, Donkey Kong Country Returns. They, along with Cageberries and Toothcherries, are sub-species of Toothberries. They are yellow enemies with fangs. Acks are found in groups of five. Each one of them are piled on top of each other, trying to harm the Kongs. Their stack is known as the "Ackstack". If Donkey Kong comes into their contact, they will fall, attempting to defeat him. However, if Donkey Kong jumps back, dodging the monsters, they will land separate from each other. When single, Acks are vulnerable to jump attacks.

Variant of Ack

AckStacks[1] are a group consisting of five yellow Acks who stand atop each other like a tower. These enemies appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its remake.

If Donkey Kong and Diddy get too close to an AckStack, the Acks lean back and fall with their mouths open. Sometimes, AckStacks take up a large amount of space when collapsing and may knock the Kongs into an abyss. Donkey Kong can dodge an AckStack by jumping back, which causes every Ack to land separately, with their fangs stuck in the floor. These Acks are vulnerable to jump attacks. Unlike normal Acks, the Kongs can defeat them with a single hit. The Kong Roll is ineffective against AckStacks, but the Kongs are not injured from attempting this maneuver.
