This article is about places that appeared in the Super Smash Bros. series. For areas that appear in most platformers, see Level.

Stages are places where fights take place in the Super Smash Bros. series. They vary in size and shape and some have gimmicks that affect gameplay. This is a list of every stage appearing in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Super Smash Bros.

Default stages

Stage Description
Peach's Castle from Super Smash Bros. Peach's Castle
The Super Mario franchise emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A stage with one large platform, two mid-air sloped platforms at the side, and a moving platform towards the bottom. There are two Bumpers in the upper right and left-hand corners of the stage.
Yoshi's Island Yoshi's Island
The Yoshi series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A stage slightly sloped on either side, meant to look like a book. There are also three mid-air platforms, two of which are also slanted. Clouds on the sides of the course can be stood on, but they will disappear if the player stays on the platform for a period of time.
Kongo Jungle from Super Smash Bros. Melee Kongo Jungle
The Donkey Kong series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
A stage sloped towards the middle, with platforms on either side. There is also a Barrel Cannon moving side to side at the bottom of the stage. If players are to fall into it, the barrel would start rotating and the players press the A button, they can launch in whichever direction the arrow is pointing.
Sector Z Sector Z
The Star Fox series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
A very large stage, set on the Great Fox. Occasionally, an Arwing enters the screen and fires blasts of beams at the players. The stage is the largest of the game, considering the length of the blast lines.
Dream Land Dream Land
The Kirby series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A flat no frills stage, with Whispy Woods at the center. Whispy sometimes blows air that pushes players in the direction he is facing.
Hyrule Castle Hyrule Castle
The Legend of Zelda series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A very long stage, and the first stage of the single-player mode. It does not have many gimmicks, except for a whirlwind that appears every 30 seconds. The tornado sends players flying with a percent cost, and it can turn unlucky players into stars depending on the location and percent. The tornadoes appear in 4 places in this stage.
Planet Zebes Planet Zebes
The Metroid series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A small stage that is easy to get blasted off of. The only other feature is the acid, that rises up about every 30 seconds. The acid hurts players and knocks the player out of the stage if the percent is high enough. The acid also makes it nearly impossible to score a KO in the bottom part of the stage.
Saffron City from Super Smash Bros. Saffron City
The Pokémon series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
A large stage that features the most gimmicks. It is the home stage of Pikachu and Jigglypuff. Various Pokémon emerge from the building to the right, having effects on gameplay.

A large stage, featuring some gimmicks, moving platforms, Warp Pipes, and others. This stage later reappears modified in the game's sequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is unlockable by beating 1-Player mode with the eight original characters, and by playing on each stage in VS. Mode.

Icicle Mountain

The Ice Climbers' emblem, from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Icicle Mountain is a stage that scrolls up and down at different speeds. It has many different small platforms to jump on, similar to the classical platforming game Ice Climber.

Princess Peach's Castle

The Super Mario franchise emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
In this stage, the battle takes place on the roof of Princess Peach's Castle from Super Mario 64. There are some hovering platforms at either side of the small tower. Switches can be activated, making ? Blocks appear. From time to time, a Banzai Bill is shot into the castle, causing an explosion.

Kongo Jungle

The Donkey Kong series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
The Kongo Jungle stage is set on logs over a waterfall. A small platform also appears to the right, and sometimes logs are falling down the waterfall, creating temporary platforms. Below the stage is a Barrel Cannon which shoots out characters in a random direction when they fall into it.

Great Bay

The Legend of Zelda series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
The Great Bay stage, based on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, has two platforms which stand fixed in the water, and a swimming stone. Sometimes, a turtle rises from the water, creating additional platforms. Tingle is also seen on the stage with a giant balloon, and is forming another platform.
Yoshi's Story in Super Smash Bros. Melee Yoshi's Island:
Yoshi's Story

The Yoshi series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Yoshi's Story features elements of the game Yoshi's Story. In the center is Yoshi's Island, and three smaller platforms are hovering above it. It also has a cloud moving below it to catch falling characters. Propeller Shy Guys fly by occasionally, carrying Food.

Fountain of Dreams

The Kirby series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
On the Fountain of Dreams stage from the Kirby series, the fountain itself forms a big platform in the middle with three smaller hovering platforms above it, whose height varies.
Corneria from Super Smash Bros. Melee Lylat System:
Corneria

The Star Fox series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
In the Corneria stage from the Star Fox series, the battle is held on the Great Fox, a spaceship. From time to time, Arwings fly by and shoot at the combatants.

The Super Mario franchise emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Rainbow Cruise is a moving stage with different environments based on Rainbow Ride from Super Mario 64. It starts on a floating ship, which falls down after a certain time, and players have to move on over the various platforms.

Jungle Japes

The Donkey Kong series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
The Jungle Japes stage from the Donkey Kong series is set on a river, with three ledges made of wood with a house and a toilet house found on them. The players fight on these platforms. Occasionally, Klaptraps jump out of the water, trying to drag characters downwards into the water.

The Legend of Zelda series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
The Temple is the biggest stage of the game, designed after several games from the Legend of Zelda series. It features many different platforms and a tunnel system. Despite its size, it does not have any side effects.

Yoshi's Island

The Yoshi series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
The Yoshi's Island stage is set in a scene from Super Mario World. The area is enclosed by a slope on the one side and a Warp Pipe on the other. In the middle, there is a hole with Rotating Blocks above it. There are also two groups of Rotating Blocks floating on the stage serving as additional platforms.

Green Greens

The Kirby series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Green Greens from the Kirby series is consisting of three separated grass platforms. The huge tree, Whispy Woods, blows the characters away. Sometimes, apples fall from him. Also, blocks and bomb blocks fall from the sky in between the platforms.

Venom

The Star Fox series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Much like Corneria, Venom is featuring the Great Fox flying over the surface. But unlike Corneria, the battle is fought on the Great Fox's four wings, the ship is seen from the front. Arwings also appear and shoot at the players.
Brinstar Planet Zebes:
Brinstar

The Metroid series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Brinstar from Metroid is consisting of several platforms which are held together by organic material or other objects. These connections can be destroyed, causing some of the platforms to hover in the air. Sometimes, acid rises from below burning the characters, but also restoring broken connections.
Onett stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee Eagleland:
Onett

The EarthBound / Mother series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
In Onett from EarthBound, the battle takes place on a few houses in the village and a nearby tree. Cars drive by and hit characters when they do not avoid them. There are warning signs announcing the cars. The platforms of the drug store in the middle can collapse, but restore themselves after a certain time.

The F-Zero series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Mute City takes place on a large F-Zero race track with a small platform hovering in the middle of it. Occasionally, this platform will go down, exposing the road. F-Zero gliders will sometimes race into the players, but can also be destroyed.

The Pokémon series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
The Pokémon Stadium looks like a simple stage with two floating platforms, but every once in a while the stage will change into one of four different terrains: Water, Fire, Rock, and Grass, which all have different features obstacles.

The Mushroom Kingdom stage features many objects from classical Super Mario Bros. games, such as Brick Blocks and ? Blocks, which contain items, as well as falling platforms above two gaps.

Unlockable stages

The Flat Zone stage, from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Superflat World:
Flat Zone

The Game & Watch series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
The Flat Zone modeled after a Game & Watch system. From time to time, wrenches, buckets, and other tools fall from the top. Oil can also be spilled over the ground, making it hard for the players to move. Some platforms vanish and appear at different places.
Brinstar Depths from Super Smash Bros. Melee Planet Zebes:
Brinstar Depths

The Metroid series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Brinstar Depths from Metroid features a large rock platform. There are few floating rocks, which players can jump at times. When Kraid hits it, the large rock is rotating in any direction, exposing a different side of it.

Fourside

The EarthBound / Mother series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
This EarthBound stage is set high on the skyscrapers of Fourside. Players have to be carefully not to fall into the gaps between the buildings. It has a giant UFO that occasionally shows up on the screen and can be used as a platform.
Donkey Kong and Ice Climbers fighting in Big Blue. F-Zero Grand Prix:
Big Blue

The F-Zero series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Big Blue is side-scrolling, and the fight takes place on top of the F-Zero gliders. Players have to be cautious not to hit the track, as they would stay behind and, because of the high speed of the gliders, would hit the barrier at the left end of the stage, knocking them out. There are also numerous platforms that pass by.

Poké Floats

The Pokémon series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
The Poké Floats stage takes place in the skies of Kanto, where giant floating Pokémon balloons are found. To survive on this stage, the player must jump from one Pokémon balloon to the next.
Mushroom Kingdom II from Super Smash Bros. Melee Mushroom:
Kingdom II

The Super Mario franchise emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Mushroom Kingdom II, actually featuring Super Mario Bros. 2, has a generic scene from the game with several platforms and a waterfall that forms gorges between them. Occasionally, logs will fall down the waterfall, creating temporary platforms. A Pidgit will also occasionally fly in, creating another platform, and a Birdo appears from time to time, spitting Birdo Eggs at the characters.
The Battlefield stage, from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Special Stages:
Battlefield

The Super Smash Bros. series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Battlefield is a floating stage consisting of a big platform in the middle and three smaller platforms hovering above it. The stage does not have any side effects, which allows players to solely concentrate on the fight.
Final Destination in Super Smash Bros. Melee Special Stages:
Final Destination

The Super Smash Bros. series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Final Destination has absolutely no features, so the combatants are not bothered by the stage in any way.
Dream Land Past Stages:
Dream Land

The Kirby series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
The Dream Land is a stage returning from Super Smash Bros. The only feature is Whispy Woods who occasionally blows a harsh wind in a random direction.

Yoshi's Island

The Yoshi series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Yoshi's Island is a stage returning from Super Smash Bros. It is consisting of a big platform with the Super Happy Tree in the background, three other smaller floating platforms above, and three clouds at the edges of the stage, which vanish when a character stands on them too long.
Kongo Jungle from Super Smash Bros. Melee Past Stages:
Kongo Jungle

The Donkey Kong series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
The Kongo Jungle is a stage returning from Super Smash Bros. The stage is made out of a large wooden platform with several smaller, sometimes floating ones around it. There is also a Barrel Cannon underneath the arena.

Returning from Super Smash Bros. Melee, the stage is now set in a green landscape and features different times of day. A valley can be seen in the background of the stage.
Final Destination Super Smash Bros. Brawl:

The Super Smash Bros. series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A wide, flat stage, with no gimmicks. Master Hand and Crazy Hand are also fought at Final Destiantion.

This stage is an auto-scrolling remake of World 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros.. Occasionally, World 1-2 will load instead of World 1-1. Ground:

A Donkey Kong stage similar to Icicle Mountain. It has numerous obstacles, switches and ladders on the way up.
Bridge of Eldin The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess:

The Legend of Zelda series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
A flat stage. King Bulblin and Lord Bullbo occasionally destroys the bridge, forcing the battle to not be fought in the middle of the stage.

A stage that takes place inside Planet Zebes, similar to Brinstar Depths from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Lava occasionally rises from the bottom of the stage, as well as from the sides, and even from the back of the stage. Players must enter a capsule when the latter occurs.

Meta Knight's ship. Takes place on a Battlefield-like platform, then lands on the Halberd itself, which has a double-barreled battery in the background, which attacks the players.

An exact copy of the Pokémon Stadium from Super Smash Bros. Melee (which has fall through platforms). This stage is now upgraded to look like Pokémon Stadium 2, the game. It changes into one of four terrains as time passes. They are Ice, Electric, Ground, and Flying.

A stage comparable to Temple from Super Smash Bros. Melee; it is a very large and spacy stage. The Ultimate Chimera may appear, and will damage any player it hits, and will instantly KO any player it chomps on.

A stage that takes place just outside a helipad. The walls on the sides can be broken, and sometimes, a Metal Gear will appear in the background.
Temple The Legend of Zelda:

The Legend of Zelda series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
Coming back from Super Smash Bros. Melee, the Temple is exactly the same as it was in the previous game, with a remix of the old background music.
Yoshi's Island Super Mario World:
Yoshi's Island

A moving stage based on the worlds of Super Mario 3D Land split into four parts: The first part of the stage is a side-scrolling portion with blocks; the second part is set on platforms that move through protruding rock pillars that alter the platforms' angles; the third part is another short side-scrolling portion along Warp Pipes; and the fourth part takes place on moving Switchboards with Spike Pillars as hazards. The stage then loops back via a Warp Pipe.

A stage taking place on the bridge in the original Gerudo Valley. If enough damage is inflicted onto it, the bridge will collapse, creating a chasm in the middle of the stage. Kotake and Koume may appear and either cast fire or ice on one side of the stage that burns or freezes fighters.

A stage based on Chapter 11 from Kid Icarus: Uprising, set before and after a Reset Bomb explodes in the background. After it does, the stage is restructured, and many platforms are found scattered around, some of which can be destroyed. The stage eventually returns to normal.

A stage based with small platforms on the left side and a long, flat platform on the right, downloadable alongside Ryu. If the original Street Fighter II music is playing, it will switch to its "crisis" variation when one fighter has one stock left, or when the timer is almost zero.
