“Maybe you can tell that my little brother has vanished on me again. He refuses to stop gallivanting off. I have one option left-getting that wish!”
Older treasure-hunting brother, Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Treasure-Hunting Brothers is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi must make an offering to the statues of the guardians on Heatfreeze Island to ensure the safe return of the younger treasure-hunting brother.

Treasure-Hunting Brothers becomes available after linking Conductor Island and completing Letter from a Drifting Island, and expires after defeating Reclusa. Clearing the side quest awards a Max Candy and two Ultra Candies.

Side quest[edit]

To begin the side quest, Mario and Luigi must talk to the older treasure-hunting brother on Allsand Island. He asks the Bros. if they know about the statues of the guardians on Heatfreeze Island, who grant wishes in exchange for offerings. He then tells them that his younger brother vanished again and requests the brothers to make an offering to the statues for a wish to bring him back home safely. The older brother gives Mario and Luigi a fruit basket as an offering.

The Bros. then travel to Heatfreeze Island and give the offering to the statues, who happily accept it and grant the wish. When the brothers leave, they pass by the younger treasure-hunting brother, who wishes that his older brother would stop being a worrywart and that only they can go on treasure hunts together.

Back on Allsand Island, the older brother thanks Mario and Luigi before the younger brother returns, who tells his older sibling that he is not a kid and to stop worrying so much. The older brother agrees. The younger brother apologizes for running off, and the two reconcile. They then agree to go on their next treasure hunt together. The older brother then thanks Mario and Luigi and vows to learn from them to work together. He then awards the Bros. with a new treasure map with the location of Teensi Islet, as well as the quest rewards. The side quest is then complete.

Gossips' dialogue[edit]

The following quotes are from the gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Sweeties, I know a secret!"
  • Pink gossip: "Oh, get over yourself! There are no secrets between us gossips!"
  • Blue gossip: "Well, by ""secret,"" she means there's a secret current out there somewhere!"
  • Yellow gossip: "And in that secret current is a secret island hiding an oh-so-secret treasure!"
  • Pink gossip: "How intriguing!"
  • Yellow gossip: "How mysterious!"
  • Pink gossip: "And two very different brothers on Allsand Island hold the key to this little mystery!"
  • Blue gossip: "Oh my! The plot thickens!"
  • All three: "Ohohohoho!"

If the player speaks to them again, the above conversation is skipped and only one line of dialogue is said.

  • Pink gossip: "Two very different brothers on Allsand Island have the key to the mystery in their grasp!"
