Mind taking it down before it escapes and goes on a rampage? I'll have a special reward for you if you can do it!”

Monster Mania: Level 3 is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi must defeat a Curlup R on Petit Islet.

Monster Mania: Level 3 becomes available after building Technikki's or Adaphne's Engine, and expires after defeating Reclusa. Clearing the side quest awards two Heart Beans and two Max Nuts.

Side quest[edit]

To begin the side quest, the Bros. must find Maniac No. 3 of the Monster Maniac Club, located on Petit Islet. He tasks the brothers to defeat a Curlup R in a battle. This Curlup R has an extremely high amount of HP. If the Bros. win the fight, the Monster Maniac rewards Mario and Luigi before thanking and wishing goodbye to the Curlup R. He then sets out to find a stronger monster, and the side quest is complete.

  • "The World Monster Mania Club researches unusual monsters and the special measures required to defeat them. You'll need your wits."

Gossips' dialogue[edit]

The following quotes are from the gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Say, you know about the dreadful monster on an islet called Petit Islet, right?"
  • Pink gossip: "Yeah, they say someone's looking for a hero or heroes to take it down."
  • Blue gossip: "I bet it's really strong..."
  • Yellow gossip: "We could go have a little chat with it...a chat with our fists!"
  • Pink Gossip: "Yeah, right. I think an actual chat is just about as much action as we can handle."
  • All three: "We'll chat until it gives up! Ohohohohohohoho!"

If the player speaks to them again, the above conversation is skipped and only one line of dialogue is said.

  • "There's a request to take down a dreadful monster on an islet called Petit Islet..."

Notes[edit]

  • The Curlup R is never referred to as a Curlup R during the side quest. Outside of its battle, the enemy is simply referred to as a Curlup.
