Mario & Luigi: Brothership side quests
“My kid might get upset with me... But a mother can't help worrying. Can I ask for your help with this?”
Willma, Mario & Luigi: Brothership

A Mother's Worries is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi must deliver a letter from Willma to either Maykit or Billdit.

A Mother's Worries becomes available after lighting the Lushgreen Sea, Great Lighthouse Island, and expires after Burnadette and Chilliam's wedding. Clearing the side quest awards two Syrup Jars.

Side questEdit

To start the side quest, the Bros. must speak with Willma on Rumbla Island. She tells the brothers that she is worried about and misses whoever is running the workshop on Shipshape Island. Willma then asks Mario and Luigi to deliver a letter to them.

The brothers return to Shipshape Island and give the letter to whoever is running the workshop. The letter reads:

Dear Maykit/Billdit,
how are you these days?

It's been quite a while since my kids left home.

But to me, it feels like yesterday. I must really be getting old.

When the land split apart, that was scary.

Next to that, I'm not afraid to think about you out on your own. Not TOO afraid, anyway.

Are you eating well? You should visit more often.

Oh, but don't worry about me.

I think that's all the letter writing I have in me. So I'll stop here. Take care, and keep swinging!

Maykit/Billdit then discover that there are coins covered in mud within the letter. Maykit/Billdit thinks of Willma and how caring she is. They then discover that the muddy coins are actually chocolate coins. The letter then continues:

Oh, P. S. My neighbor gave us some chocolate coins the other day.

I ate most of them already, but you can have the rest. That's all! -Your Mom

Maykit/Billdit thanks Mario and Luigi and proceeds to give them their reward. The side quest is then complete.

In-game descriptionEdit

  • "Willma is usually pretty upbeat, but she seems worried about Billdit. You should tell her about her son and how he's been doing. (Billdit)"
  • "Willma is usually pretty upbeat, but she’s been worried about Maykit. Give her an update on her daughter. (Maykit)"
  • "Destination: Rumbla Island
    Go see Willma.
    "

Gossips' dialogueEdit

The following quotes are from the gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Ladies! Have you been to that new shop?"
  • Pink gossip: "That shop that Willma's son/daughter opened? That kid's a hard worker."
  • Blue gossip: "You can get something made lickety-split, as long as you bring the materials."
  • Yellow gossip: "Good head on that kid. I'm really impressed."
  • Pink gossip: "But you know... That poor child seems kind of down lately."
  • Yellow gossip: "Really? With that shop such a success? How sad..."
  • Pink gossip: "Maybe that's the problem. The shop's too busy for any time off to see ol' mom. That kid must miss Willma terribly. And a mother always misses her child!"
  • Blue gossip: "Ah, it hurts my old heart to hear it. Such a shame. My kid can't WAIT to break away and live away from this ol' mom."
  • Pink gossip: "Mine too. But then we'll finally get to live our own lives!"
  • All three: "Ohohohoho! Can't wait!"

If the player speaks to them again, the above conversation is skipped and only one line of dialogue is said.

  • "I'm sure Willma is worried about her son/daughter."
