Special 4 is the twelfth world and the fourth special world in Super Mario 3D Land. The world is in a dark green forest at night with yellow mushrooms. Special 4 contains six levels, including the airship, and one Toad House. Boom Boom and Pom Pom are the bosses fought at the end of the world.

A clock-themed level that takes place entirely on a large moving platform. The third original level of the Special Worlds. |
| Special 4-2 | 
|
A harder version of World 4-4 and the second level to feature Cosmic Clones. |
| Special 4-3 | 
|
A stage that takes place on various boardwalks in the clouds. The main obstacles are Bullet Bills and Banzai Bills that are fired off-screen. |
| Special 4-4 | 
|
A harder version of World 1-3 and the time set to 30 seconds. Defeating Goombas awards the player with an additional 10 seconds. |
| Special 4-5 | 
|
A harder version of World 3-3 with many ghost-themed enemies. The camera angle is slightly different. |
Special 4- Airship
|
|
An original level consisting of various individual airships from the previous airship levels including a section from World 6-Airship. The bosses are Boom Boom and Pom Pom, who are fought sequentially. Requires 160 Star Medals to be unlocked.
