Arukaroten[edit]

An Arukaroten is a Chain-Chomp like creature that are inside Bowser but he kidnaps Princess Peach but Mario, Luigi and Bowser wanna fight and save Peach.

("Bowser! User your stomach muscles to crush the Arukaroten!") - DarkNight (talk)

(Since WHEN did Kretin look like a Chain Chomp? Where in the mushroom kingdom does the resemblance even START?) - OhoJeeOnFire (talk)

("...Its eyes kinda look like those of Flame Chomp?? I dunno..." Arend (talk))

("The concern for the reader's well-being is admirable, at least.")

Big Scorper[edit]

Trivia

("For context, the page was named "SandWorm" before being moved. This is what happens when you're not careful with Word search & replace.")

Bleak[edit]

After Bleak has sustained enough damage, he will seem to go into some sort of seizure (quivering and making bizarre noises) and then explode, giving out a Bonus Coin.

(why are comparisons to having seizures one of the funniest entries?)

(The text was later changed to 'After Bleak has sustained enough damage, he will go into some sort of laughing fit and then explode (Die Laughing)'. He's literally dying of laughter, I'm metaphorically dying of laughter.) Bazooka Mario (talk)

Bonetail[edit]

Unlike her still-living siblings, she is an undead dragon, having died of unknown reasons.

(Unknown reasons is the leading cause of death in dragons. ~P-Tux7 (talk))

Unlike his still-living siblings, he is an undead dragon, having died of old age after not eating anything for centuries at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials.

(But we know for sure it couldn't have been starvation! - Technetium (talk))

[...]

Once, Colorado's dad (seen in Hooktail's Castle)made it all the way down. When he saw Bonetail, he was so scared, he ran through the pipe, leaving Bonetail. Bonetail got so mad, he moved the pipe so that future fighters would have to go through him to get out.

Booster[edit]

Booster attempted to eliminate Mario with some Bob-ombs, but Mario escaped the deadly blasts.

(The explosions do no damage in the overworld and walking into a bomb just begins a regular battle.)

The only time Booster wants to fight Mario is when his Snifits find him behind the curtains (when unsuccessfully hiding from them), though even then Booster believes that it is the Mario doll that he is fighting and not the real Mario.

(Pictured: Booster thinking he is fighting a doll)

Personality

It's not listed in canon what kinds of food he likes to eat, but many fans have speculated that he is a fan of peanut butter, due to his similar appearance to Yukon Cornelius (who also mentions a fondness for peanut butter). This is seen in most fan fiction which features Booster.

Bowletta[edit]

Bowser, Super Mario Galaxy 2

Bowser was a Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 boss, just like nearly every other Mario game. In Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser stole some Power Stars and Grand Stars from Rosalina and her Luma friends. Therefore, Rosalina told Mario (or Luigi) to get them back. So you had to fight Bowser for it. That's how he became a boss.

("The tale of how Bowser became a boss is one that will be told for the ages.")

Bugaboom[edit]

  • Bugaboom's eyes look strangely hypnotic, meaning that it may not have been the one who planned the Mandibug attack and just may have been hypnotized into assaulting Mario. Of course, this may also mean that Bugaboom is simply demented.
  • It then proceeds to attack Mario just like a regular Mandibug would except it is much bigger.
  • Glamdozer's boss music seems to be a remix of Bugaboom's theme. They also have similaraties, as both a bigger version of their species, and both need to be ground-pounded to be defeated, like their species.

Chief Chilly[edit]

Out of all the moustached bosses from Super Mario 64 DS, Chief Chilly takes greatest pride about his moustache.

("I'm trying to remember how many moustached Bosses there were in SM64DS. I can only think of two." - Garlic Man (talk))

("There were three" - Toadbrigade5 (talk))

Colonel Pluck[edit]

Trivia
  • Colonel Pluck might be made of rubber, as in the cutscene, when he adjusts his goggles, he squeaks.

Dedar[edit]

Dedar is so confident in his abilities that he suggests Toad should plan on having some excuses for losing. Toad, of course, made him eat his words.

Doopliss[edit]

He's also a really cool boss. I like his battle and how he appears at the end in a play as Mario. Such a cool character. I hope he returns in a future paper Mario game. I love Mario games.

("This is just really wholesome, and I always smile when I remember this. I thought I'd add it here so you guys can smile, too." - Technetium (talk))

Powers and abilities

A crow in Twilight Town states that there always has to be at least one being knowing Doopliss' name; otherwise, he cannot exist.

(This nonsensical (and dramatic) line was added in 2007 and only removed in 2025.)

(This line has also went to the Italian wiki, and has been on there since 2016, since the Rampel (Doopliss) page was first created on that wiki.P-Tux7 (talk) 17:32, June 28, 2025 (EDT))

Dracula[edit]

Trivia
  • [...] On a similar note, the Mario & Luigi: Dream Team main antagonist, Antasma, shared several traits to Dracula, including transforming into a bat, having vampiric traits, and to a lesser extent speaking in a Slavic accent (although it should be noted that Dracula in the Castlevania series, with the exception of Portrait of Ruin and to a lesser extent Captain N, does not have him speaking with a Slavic accent). In the Russian version of the game, his name is even a pun on Dracula. The character Count Bleck from Super Paper Mario also shared some traits to Dracula, namely in terms of motives for acting as the main antagonist being the result of losing his beloved (which was taken from the 1992 Francis Coppola adaptation).

(We don't have an article on Bram Stoker's Dracula so let's just cram all this information on the page for the Castlevania antagonist.)

Dry Bowser[edit]

This may be because his transformation pushed his anger and hatred of Mario to the extremes, possibly completely corrupting himself. In other words, Bowser's mean to the bone. [...] Dry Bowser's personality is similar to his living counterpart, Bowser. He is a cruel and ruthless villain, and his roar is even more terrifying than the living Bowser's.

Eely-Mouth[edit]

Trivia
  • Even if it cannot be seen in-game, Eely-Mouth's interior is fully modeled. This likely means that it was intended early in development for Mario to swim inside of Eely-Mouth, but this feature was removed for unknown reasons.
  • If the game is hacked to get out of bounds, it can be seen that the back half of Eely-Mouth isn’t modeled, because the devs never expected the player to be able to see it. This can also be seen through a glitch that can randomly happen where Eely-Mouth will accidentally rise too high out of its hole, revealing the edge of the model where it cuts off. Going out of bounds also reveals that Eely-Mouth’s hole has no interior and abruptly ends past a certain point, revealing the black skybox of the Nooki Depths, which has strange yellow bioluminescent-like flashing lights, below.
  • It is possible via a glitch to clip through Eely-Mouth’s body and end up partially inside of it, but a second invisible barrier prevents you from getting fully inside of it. This second barrier can also be glitched through, however. Doing so reveals a fail-safe mechanism implemented by the devs in the case you somehow got into Eely-Mouth’s body; upon getting inside it’s body, Eely-Mouth will lower itself down until you are inside of it’s mouth, in which case the cutscene for being eaten by it will play, and Mario will be spat out by it.
  • One pair of Eely-Mouth’s eyes are masculine, with large eyebrows, while the other pair is feminine, with large eyelashes, meaning Eely-Mouth is potentially genderless. The male eyes release far more poisonous tear-bubbles than the female eyes do for an unknown reason.
  • Releasing a tooth on Eely-Mouth’s female side will cause it to make feminine pain sounds. Conversely, releasing a tooth on its male side will cause it to make masculine pain sounds.
  • Eely-Mouth, the Gooper Bloopers, Mecha-Bowser, King Boo, Giant Chain-Chomp, Bowser, and Bowser Jr. (only in the final battle) are the only bosses in all of Mario sunshine who do not splat into paint and die upon defeat.
  • Eely-Mouth is by far the largest enemy, boss, and character in the game, with only Bowser, Mecha-Bowser, and Phantom-Manta coming anywhere close to it in size.
  • If one were to take a very close look at Eely-Mouth’s eyes in-game or look at them through a model editor, a picture of a beta version of Ricco Harbor, complete with Mario and a few enemies, coins, and NPCs in it, can be seen reflected in them, despite the fact that Eely-Mouth isn’t fought in Ricco Harbor. This is likely because Eely-Mouth was originally meant to be fought in Ricco Harbor early in development, but this was changed at some point later on for unknown reasons.
  • Eely-Mouth bares several similarities to the Unagi Eels present in several games, specifically the one in Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine’s predecessor, as both are massive eels that live very deep underwater (only in Super Mario 64 for the Unagi Eel), are completely invulnerable to damage (Eely-Mouth’s teeth can be cleaned, causing it to permanently go back into its hole, but it cannot outright be defeated), and try to eat Mario to hurt him.
  • Though it cannot be seen in-game due to its constant rippling, the waves of it being constantly thrown around, and the fact that it is constantly turning into bubbles, the goo inside of the cauldron Bowser and Bowser Jr. are fought in during the final battle of the game has a reflection modeled on it, as can be seen via viewing the goop in a model editor. This reflection is a picture of a beta version of the Nooki Depths, complete with Eely-Mouth in it. Strangely, in the picture, both of its pairs of eyes are quite far off center from where they normally are in-game. It is not known why this is, nor is it known why this reflection was even put here in the first place.
  • There is an invisible barrier over Eely-Mouth’s hole that prevents the player from swimming into it after Eely-Mouth swims back in it once its teeth have all been cleaned and removed. This barrier cannot be glitched through in any way, but it is still possible to glitch through the crater around the hole to see the small parts of said hole that cannot normally be seen.
  • Eely-Mouth’s fins are not fully 3D modeled, and are instead just moving Jpeg images.
  • If you spray Eely-Mouth’s poison tear-bubbles for long enough, they will turn into air bubbles that will replenish your air meter.
  • In all missions after it leaves, the waters of Nooki Bay will be clean and won’t hurt Mario anymore, the Nooki depths will be repopulated with Nookis (non of which can be talked to since Mario can’t talk to NPCs underwater), who have finally returned home again since the poison is gone, and Eely-Mouth’s hole will be completely covered up, with only the crater around it remaining. Swimming back down to the crater will reveal a hidden 1-Up for you to collect.
  • It can be assumed the Bowser Jr., likely disguised as Shadow Mario, polluted Eely-Mouth with his magic brush, since it’s clearly in distress while Mario “fights” it, as it constantly cries out poisonous tear-bubbles, (which in turn means that it may not actually be intending to hurt Mario with its poisonous tear-bubbles, and instead does it because the poison causes it so much pain that it is forced to cry it out in tear-bubbles; if this is true, it is the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine with an attack it can’t control, an attack that isn’t meant to be an attack, and an attack that isn’t meant to hurt Mario), and it appears to be happy and thankful to Mario after he cleans and removes its teeth, as it leaves behind a large amount of coins in the shape of a heart after it leaves. This suggests the Eely-Mouth, despite its unnerving appearance, isn’t inherently violent or hostile, and is instead normally peaceful and docile, but it was turned violent and Hostile after Bowser Jr. corrupted it. This makes it the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine to be a natural creature native to Isle Delfino that was corrupted by Bowser Jr., as well as the only boss that wasn’t originally evil, and one of only two bosses that thanks the player upon its “defeat”, with the other one being Giant Chain-Chomp. This also makes it, along with Bowser, Mecha-Bowser, Bowser Jr. himself (only in the final battle), Giant Chain-Chomp, and (possibly) King Boo the only bosses in all of Super Mario Sunshine that weren’t creations of Bowser Jr. and his magic paint brush.
  • Because of the nature of its “fight”, Eely-Mouth is the Only Boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine to never actually be attacked, fought or defeated; instead, Mario simply cleans and removes its teeth whilst avoiding its poison tears and its attempts to eat him, and once all of its teeth are cleaned and removed, it simply swims back into its hole and leaves a bunch of coins as a reward for curing it of its pollution.
  • Eely-Mouth is the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine that is fought underwater. This makes it the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine where it is possible to drown whilst “fighting” it without the player having to go out of their way to do so. This also makes it the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine that straight up cannot be jumped on at all (because Mario obviously can’t jump underwater), as well as the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine where it is completely impossible for F.L.U.D.D. To ever loose any water from its tank whilst the player “fights” it without hacking, and the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine that cannot be “defeated” with F.L.U.D.D.’s tank at any level other than full without hacking.
  • Eely-Mouth is the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine that Mario “fights” with the fish-bowl on his head.
  • Because it is “fought” underwater to begin with, Eely Mouth does not react to being sprayed by F.L.U.U.D. at all. It will only ever react to it if its teeth are sprayed by it. It is one of the only entities in all of Super Mario Sunshine with this trait, with the only other ones being Petey Piranha Plant in his second fight while he’s sleeping and Giant Chain-Chomp after it is lured into the hot spring and cools off. Coincidentally, they are all bosses. It is also the only boss in all of Super Mario Sunshine that reacts to F.L.U.D.D. Only when a certain part of its body is sprayed, and doesn’t react to anything else.
  • Eely-Mouth, King Boo, Mecha-Bowser, Phantom-Manta, Bowser, Bowser Jr. (only in the final battle), Giant Chain-Chomp, and Wiggler are the only bosses in all of Super Mario Sunshine that are only ever fought once in the game.
  • The maximum amount of Eely-Mouth’s poison tear-bubbles that can be present on screen at once is unknown and cannot be seen in-game because the poison tear-bubbles pop before the limit is ever reached, so there’s never enough of them on screen at once for any new ones created by Eely-Mouth to be forced to despawn.

("The user who wrote this is really into Eely-Mouth.." Timmy Turner (talk))

("If Eely-Mouth has one fan, that one is me." - Technetium (talk))

("This is so overly long for trivia standards, that it's become overly long for an overly long trivia section. Usually, trivia sections less than half the length of this one tend to get slapped with the {{notes}} notice already." -Arend (talk))

False Bowser[edit]

Though evil, he fights exactly like Bowser.

("Isn't Bowser already evil to begin with?")

Concept and creation

The reason for the fake Bowsers in the original Super Mario Bros. is due to the fact that, while the game was still in development, since all enemies have their sprites flipped upside-down when they are defeated (including Goombas, which had two death animations, with the other being flattened, and except for Piranha Plants, which simply disappear, and Bullet Bills, which stay rightside up, while defeated Koopa Troopas and Buzzy Beetles turn into upside-down shells), one of the programmers accidentally inserted an upside-down Koopa Troopa shell when portraying Bowser's death animation as if he were defeated with fireballs. The developers liked this idea, and as a result, this idea was extended to most of the Bowser battles in the game.

(Here's a masterclass in how to make a fairly simple statement way more confusing and hard to read than it needs to. Never use one word where three might do and redundantly state which enemies have their sprites flipped, because simply saying "except [the ones that don't]" would just not have been obvious enough.)

Francis[edit]

The only people that can enter his (Francis) room are himself and hot babes meaning he wants a date.

Giga Lakitu[edit]

Angry King Lakitu
King Lakitu is angry.

DO NOT under estimate this lakitu to much or it will be the end of that life (note: do not over estimate him either).

Trivia
  • HE'S SCOTTISH!

Gobblegut[edit]

Gobblegut has a few jagged crystals protruding from its head, and it has a large bulbous chin that has numerous scars on it (most likely due to the numerous times it slams his chin into solid rock). It also has orange eyes with a demented look to them.

Head Honcho Carpaccio[edit]

Head Honcho Carpaccio is a transformation of Carpaccio in Wario: Master of Disguise. Carpaccio used the financial might of his company to develop a morphing technology that helped him become into this transformation.

("In case it wasn't clear he changes." - Doc von Schmeltwick (talk))

Hooktail[edit]

Hooktail is a dragon in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door that has terrorized Petalburg. She ate many of its residents who came to her castle to slay her, like Kolorado's Father, Old Man Skoo, and Koops' dad.

("YEAH go old man Skoo! Throw your dentures in her face! Stub her toe with your cane!" - Technetium (talk))

[...]

When Mario, Goombella and Koops came to her castle to obtain the first Crystal Star, the Diamond Star, they were given a clue on how to defeat Hooktail once they found the dead body of Kolorado's father-- Hooktail cannot stand chirping sounds, especially ones that start with cr- and end with -icket. The reason for this weakness is never explained. Some believe that it is a reference to the Toad in the Four Heroes, who is described as having a "strange voice". He defeated Hooktail long ago; his voice may have sounded like a cricket.

("Please note that it actually is explained as her having eaten one before and it making her sick." - Doc von Schmeltwick (talk))

Hot Roderick[edit]

Artwork of Hot Roderick from Wario Land: Shake It!

(....where does the resemblance even start?)

(Well, I think it starts here: if you really, really, really stretch it, they have a similar color. The resemblance ends here: if you really, really, really stretch it, they have a similar color.)

("I suppose the person saw Hot Roderick outside his car (e.g. here and here), and thought: 'Hey, that looks vaguely Elmo-shaped!'" -Arend (talk))

(The user might have meant to say Ernie from Sesame Street, but it's still not a very good resemblance. -P-Tux7 (talk))

("A Wario Land: Shake It! icon Looking at this lower quality image here, if you tilt your head, you can see two bumps resembling Elmo's eyes and the wheel and line on the door resembles the nose.")

(My cousin’s theory: The wheels of the car resemble Elmo’s eyes, and Hot Roderick’s helmet resembles Elmo’s nose.)

King Bob-omb[edit]

Although it's never been outright stated, it's heavily implied that King Bob-omb is homosexual. From his fascination with mustaches to his willingness to die for Bowser, there's very little evidence to suggest the contrary.

("I wouldn't call talking about mustaches in only one game a 'fascination'....but more importantly, what?!")

("It's two now." - Toadette the Achiever (talk))
("He's not even the only boss that prides himself on his mustache in SM64DS: Chief Chilly does that too. Is he gay as well, then?" -Arend (talk))

[...]

Strangely, the cannonballs in Super Mario 64 looked just like him, only without any features except the body.

Madame Broode and Chain Chompkins[edit]

Trivia
  • Madame Broode is the first ever good character to appear in the Super Mario franchise.
  • I love her so much.

Mad Jack[edit]

your voice is similar to voice of Gruntilda, the main villain of the Banjo-Kazooie serie.

(I do not sound like that hag! Stop being such a mean old nag! -Doc von Schmeltwick)

Mangylox[edit]

He seems to also have magnet-related powers that are never discussed in-game.

("Removing this unsubstaniated claim should've been an instantaneous decision, but it stuck like a magnet for nearly ten years—from August 18, 2015 until June 23, 2025." — SolemnStormcloud (talk))

Master Hand[edit]

It has been disputed as to what the Master Hand is; some say it is a god-like being with reality-warping power, while others say it is nothing more than a child with an overactive imagination playing with its toys (this assumption is strengthened by the fact that the hand is shown in a child's room and removing the dolls from a toy chest in the original Super Smash Bros.).

Naval Piranha[edit]

After being hit with enough eggs, Naval Piranha succumbs to the abuse and is defeated.

Neville[edit]

Trivia

Peewee Piranha[edit]

To defeat Peewee, Mario must really wack his bum loads.

[...]

Petey Piranha[edit]

After capturing the spectating Peach and Zelda in cages, Petey blasts Mario away with a cannonball from his mouth (How does a Piranha Plant learn how to do that?) before Mario can destroy a Subspace Bomb that has been dropped by the Ancient Minister, leaving Kirby as his only opponent.

Peti pirhana[edit]

Peti is an Flower who is very good at being bad! He has recently appeared in mario strikers charged football. He is not a very nice flower because mario was not nice to him, that was when luigi turned against mario. He is rarely with maro now, he is with bowser!

Phantom[edit]

Phantom of the Bwahpera
Phantom
Appears in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (upcoming)

Phantom of the Bwahpera is a character set to appear in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. He is a levitating, heavyset Rabbid with an Enlightenment-style attire and an underside resembling a bubble with a pornograph inside. His name is also a pun on the Phantom of the Opera.

("His pornograph isn't very well hidden." - Shokora (talk))

Puftoss[edit]

After Puftoss is electrocuted five times, he will deflate like a balloon, flying into the air, falling back to the water, and going back underwater again (perhaps to heal his wounds).

Punchinello[edit]

As far as any rational being is concerned, his physical appearance resembles absolutely nothing this side of death itself (besides, possibly an eggplant).

Rey boo[edit]

Rey Boo seems a bit on Big Boo. He has his eyes are closed, but... he is lighter, and then he will again be the same color!

Sassy Squatch[edit]

it also should be noted that sassy squelch is an extreme sass master who uses derogatory terms in battle such as 'poo breath' and 'fart brains'. if you let him continue to say these things, your character will start crying uncontrollably and instantly die of overexertion. there will be a graphic and disturbing photoof Donkey kong holding his crying eyeballs as game over.

("When the original DKC game over screens weren't enough..." - Flogger (talk))

("When Konkey Dong meets Newgrounds.") -FanOfYoshi (talk)

Shiny RoboBowser[edit]

During the fight, various shiny paper minions (e.g. Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Shy Guys) will occasionally break off of Shiny RoboBowser's armor. While they don't actually do anything interesting, Shiny RoboBowser can absorb them at any time to repair his armor and recover health at around 25 HP per minion.

("Doing nothing interesting does not make it a shining affair! It makes it trash!")

Shogun of Skewers[edit]

The Shogun of Skewers is a mini-boss in Yoshi's Crafted World. It resembles an attacking Chompagobbler with a mustache and a blue hat. It first starts out as a Bushydo's dead body, but when Kamek alters it, it is alive, and has yellow clothings with black motifs on it, and holds a golden handfan.

("So when was someone gonna tell me Kamek dual-classed sorcery and necromancy? How'd the DM let him pull that stunt?") - Lord Grammaticus
("I'm the guy who made the page, btw.") FanOfYoshi (talk)

Six-Face Sal[edit]

To defeat him, Yoshi must jump on a paddle wheel and turn it to turn the wheel to the face that enlarges. However, the face that enlarges can throw-up Needlenoses.

Smokey the Dragon[edit]

His name is a pun on the fictional character Smokey the Bear.

("And yet he spits fireballs, something his apparent "namesake" would never ever turn a blind eye to." - Archivist Toadette (talk))

Squizzard[edit]

His name is a possible portmanteau of "squid" and "lizard" and is also likely a reference to Squidward Tentacles, one of the main characters from Spongebob Squarepants due to their similar names.

Super Dimentio[edit]

Despite being the final boss, Shadoo (with the heroes' dark clones' HP added altogether) is stronger than Super Dimentio. Also the Tower Power Pokey, Gooper Blooper, Mizzter Blizzard and Bowser in Paper Mario Sticker Star have more HP and attack then Super Dimentio.

("ok")

("Do some fact-checking before comparing apples to oranges: Gooper Blooper has less attack than Super Dimentio.") - Bazooka Mario (talk)

True Mimi[edit]

The True Mimi is a just a horrible, horrible monster. She appears in Super Paper Mario. The first meeting of the true Mimi is when the player is asked to sign a paper. If the player chose to sign or not Mimi will appear and turn into her spider like form. She will change in these steps.

1:At the start is already disgusting. She twists her head around so that her tie is at the top.

2:Her tie will flash. Then it will come off.

3:No more eyes for Mimi! One pony tail will come off.The other will stay and stick to 1 of her legs when they sprout.

She will also be seen when battling The Sammer Guys. Also she will be battled by Princess Peach near the destruction of all worlds.
