Variant of	Lunge Fish

The small variety of Lunge Fish are creatures in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They are juvenile Lunge Fish that are hatched from eggs. They are rare, appearing in only one level—the Miniworld level Magnified Lunge Fish, which is set inside an adult Lunge Fish.

Small Lunge Fish can hatch from eggs that are eaten or stepped on by Yoshi, thrown at by a Yoshi's Egg, or hit by either a Tail Flick, a Ground Pound, or a small Lunge Fish. However, big eggs take multiple hits to break, but a ground pound can break them more easily. Small Lunge Fish that fall into digestive acids will change color, rather than defeating them instantly.

Small Lunge Fish can be launched at a very fast speed by ground pounding into organic surfaces to such a degree that they bounce back and launch the juveniles upward. They can be used to destroy organic rocks and big eggs that they otherwise cannot destroy on their own. Small Lunge Fish are also shown to fully consume a regular Fish in numbers, leaving behind bones as remains.

Additionally, small Lunge Fish can help Yoshi collect items from small places that he is unable to reach, such as tokens and Smiley Flowers.
