Scatterpuff

Scatterpuffs[1] are creatures that appear in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They are parasitic dandelions whose fluffy heads have a mouth and a pair of eyes. If a Yoshi walks through a group of Scatterpuffs, the heads will be scattered through the air and take root on nearby objects, such as boulders and other creatures, at which point they will weaken them by draining their nutrients. Scatterpuffs' heads that land on a Crazee Dayzee will cause the latter to become tired and withered, rendering them immobile. Similarly, a Detonut that has had a Scatterpuff land on it will be unable to explode. In their Miniworld level they can land on a Goonie to cause it to become tired and eventually land.
Scatterpuffs change appearance and sometimes function based on what they sap the nutrients from. Ones that land on flower patches become Flowery Scatterpuffs which are able to be bounced on and ground-pounded to release more Scatterpuffs, while ones that land in water become Soggy Scatterpuffs that can be ground-pounded in order to raise the water level back up. They can also land on an apple, at which point Yoshi is able to pick the apple up and take them elsewhere. Even if they don't change appearance drastically, Scatterpuffs' color tends to reflect the object they grow on; apples make them red, rocks make them grey, and red teardrop jewels make them a pinkish color.
When magnified, Scatterpuffs function largely the same way, but Yoshi is able to climb atop their heads' surface and jump off of them to propel itself backwards, and the Scatterpuff into the ground or other objects.
