Mawstalk

Mawstalks are large, carnivorous plant creatures, debuting in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, that will eat whatever fits in their mouths. They are shaped like a net, with a long and thin stem plus a large head. The head of a Mawstalk is green in color with darker green stripe in the middle, and its mouth is large and red along with some white petals around the rim, resembling teeth. It also has a pair of yellow eyes with blue-colored eyelids.
Mawstalks are immobile creatures; the only way they can move is if a Yoshi picks them up. Given their immobility, if a Mawstalk is dropped in water, it will begin to thrash around. Yoshi will wield a Mawstalk like a net, and Yoshi swings the Mawstalk down onto nearby creatures such as butterflies or hoppers, the Mawstalk will gobble them up. The Mawstalk will grow in size if many different creatures are eaten, which it does up to 2 times. After it grows up in size once, it becomes strong enough to smash rocks, and at its max size, it is able to eat a Yoshi. If a Mawstalk eats a hot pepper, then its body will turn red, allowing it to also consume plants and grass.

Naming[edit]
"Mawstalk" is a combination of "maw" (due to its large mouth) and "stalk" (due to its long stem). Given its net shape, which are used for catching animals, it may also be a play on the verb "to stalk".
When the name is suggested by Mr. E, he says the following:
