Weewoos are creatures that appear in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They're pink, music-loving sea snails first encountered in Chapter 3: Seaside in the Weewoo Habitat.
Weewoos are defined by their love of music. The standard Weewoo is usually seen using a conch shell as a music instrument. If Yoshi carries a Weewoo on its back while it's holding its instrument, it will play music while he runs. This music has different effects on several environmental elements like making Note Flowers bloom. Yoshi can make a Weewoo drop its instrument by jumping on them. If he carries an instrument-less Weewoo, it will whistle while he runs. it will also play its music when Yoshi is falling from above or sliding on the ground. Some discoveries state that Weewoos communicate through music and use it to capture the fishes they eat.
The music produced by a Weewoo is shown to be irresistible to other creatures like butterflies, fishes, Flooflys and Ouchins. In an alternative version of the Little Mouser Nest, Yoshi must use a Weewoo's music to lure Little Mousers into a trap similarly to the Pied Piper of Hamelin. There are also Dancing Flowers that will bloom while listening to music. As they grow, Dancing Flowers will produce large leaves that Yoshi can use as platforms to climb. To complete the Weewoo Habitat for the first time, Yoshi must use a Weewoo's music to make a giant Dancing Flower bloom.
Because of their musical abilites, Weewoos can use any object they find as an instrument which includes the likes of a flute, an empty can and a leaf whistle. In the Merry Music Festival, a Wash Squash can also be used as an instrument by a Weewoo. Also, Yoshi can find different-shaped Weewoos in the Weewoo Habitat which includes a spiral-shelled one (found in a clam), a pointy-shelled one (buried in the ground of an upper area) and a big-shelled one (found in the water at the end of the stage). Aside from their different appearances, these Weewoos behave the same as a standard one. One discovery involves finding all four Weewoos in the stage and bring them to the hidden concert hall near the start of the stage. By having each one play a different instrument, they will perform together as a "creature quartet".
Like most creatures in the game, Weewoos can be eaten by Yoshi and are stated to have a firm texture and a delicious flavor.
