Peckadees[1] are creatures that appear in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. These teardrop-shaped birds that have a gray beak and black and white stripes[2] are found in the Peckadee Habitat.
Peckadees wait for a Yoshi to pass by before falling onto it. If the Yoshi jumps on a Peckadee, it will become stunned. Peckadees can be thrown upward or sideways, enabling the Yoshi to activate Winged Clouds, destroy stumps, wooden boxs, and nuts, cut tall grasses, and feed them. They are required to be thrown onto all five targets; if a Yoshi throws a Peckadee onto each target, a goal will appear. Once a Peckadee eats a pepper, it will catch fire, allowing the Yoshi to destroy boulders and targets.
Peckadee chicks also appear in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book; these ones cannot eat peppers.

Naming[edit]
"Peckadee" is a portmanteau of "peck" and "chickadee".
When the name is suggested by Mr. E, he says the following:
- “It pecks and jabs at things with its sharp, pointy beak...so how about Peckadee?”
- —Mr. E
