Plumebrellas are creatures that appear in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They resemble birds, with a pair of simple legs beneath a cascading dome of long, blue feathers which frill outwards to resemble a parasol while in the air. A Yoshi can have a Plumebrella ride its back, and then use it to float downwards slowly. While floating down, Yoshi can also use the Plumebrella to catch upward drafts of wind to gain height. Yoshi can eat a Plumebrella and create an egg, or ground pound it while it's in the air to flip its canopy inside-out.
Plumebrellas come in two colors: blue and golden. While blue Plumebrellas are relatively common, there is usually only one golden Plumebrella in a given stage. While floating, Plumebrellas will change the color of any Butterfly they pass to match their color, and golden Plumebrellas will scare away any Flooflys in their way. Plumebrellas can be given to Crazee Dayzees, where their size will cause them to carry the Crayzee Dayzee away.
Yoshi can also find a young Plumebrella in Plumebrella Habitat, sitting in a nest also containing a Smiley Flower. This small Plumebrella can be given to a Crazee Dayzee instead of an adult, which will allow the Crazee Dayzee to carry it safely.
When a golden Plumebrella is eaten, Yoshi will create a golden egg instead, and from that egg will hatch into a young golden Plumebrella after being thrown.
