The Grab-Grass is a plant-like creature in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book that stretches on a vine to bring things to its nest. It appears to have visible arms and a face. The Grab-Grass tries to grab Yoshi and bring him back to its nest, while the player can wiggle free of its grasp. The player can also hide from the Grab-Grass by going in mud or inside a tree.
The Grab-Grass can be defeated by stretching all the way to 300, zapped by an electric Floofly, covered in mud, or distracted by grabbing an object or egg. Other than this, the Grab-Grass can stretch insanely far over and around anything while still having enough energy to grab food, creatures, or even a nut.
Naming[edit]
"Grab-Grass" is a name referring to the creature's traits: "Grab" for grabbing lots of things for its nest and "Grass" because it looks like a type of plant. It is also a pun on crabgrass.
When the name is suggested by Mr. E, he says the following:
- “What a persistent creature! It simply will not stop chasing you... Well, I suppose it still deserves a name. It pursues its prey and catches it with great big, leafy hugs... so how about Grab-Grass?”
- —Mr. E
