A Golden Bug is a common bug type in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book that shines as if it is metallic and has an orange circle-shaped mark on its back. If Yoshi comes near the presence of the Golden Bug, it will fly away. The Golden Bug can be defeated by other creatures in the game, such as; the Piranha Plant by being eaten and transforming it gold, the Mawstalk also by being eaten, the Peckadee by being hit, and the Yu Ef Oh by sucking it up and releasing Tokens.
The Golden Bug can be seen in most of the habitats and counts as a discovery for catching it or eating it. These discoveries requires the player's speed, as it flies away from anything trying to catch it. Once beaten, the Golden Bug will drop more Tokens to reward the player.
