Category:Small variants

A category for descriptively small variants of other enemies, bosses, powered-up forms, non-playable characters, and items in the Super Mario franchise. This recurring creative and design trend was introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3. In Japanese, the names of these subjects are prefaced with「マメ」(Mame, directly means "bean" but is typically localized as "Small") and「ちび」(Chibi, localized as "Mini"). How these names have been localized into non-Japanese languages has been varied and less consistent, particularly prior to 2010, which sees "Small," "Mini," "Micro," and occasionally the suffix "-ette" used for these variants.
