Pinballer from Mario Pinball Land
A Toad using the Pinballer

The Pinballer[1] (Referred to as the Spherifier on the Mario.nintendo.com website) is a blue-and-yellow machine that can transform a character into a ball form in Mario Pinball Land. The machine has two yellow halves of a sphere that squeeze a character into a ball. It also has a gray platform that can extend upwards to move the character. The Pinballer appears during the opening cutscene, after the player starts the game, and after they lose a life. After a Toad gets transformed into a ball and shot out of the Sky Cannon, Peach gets transformed into a ball and enters the cannon as well, but she gets blasted to Bowser's castle by two Goombas. Mario then enters the machine in order to save her.

On the Mario.nintendo.com website, the description for Mario Pinball Land says that Professor E. Gadd invented the Pinballer. It also says that it shoots Mario into a parallel dimension themed after Pinball where Bowser was hiding Peach.[2]
