The Mighty Bowser is a LEGO Super Mario set released on October 1, 2022, and the largest LEGO Super Mario set to date, at 2807 pieces. The set consists of a 29 centimeters tall Bowser puppet, along with an additional base for display. The puppet has several articulated joints and movable parts for posing: Buttons on the side of the body allow the puppet to rotate its head horizontally. An additional lever can be used to open its mouth. When fully open, the mouth also shoots a fireball. Its arms are articulated and posable, and it features loose joints on its legs and tail, which allow them to move if Bowser is picked up. Bowser's eyes and eyebrows can be also posed.
The base included in the set depicts a castle-like structure with a stone floor, a carpet and two towers with flames on top. A hidden plate contains an Action Tag which allows it interact with an interactive LEGO Mario, Luigi or Peach figure. A POW Block (without an Action Tag) is also hidden underneath one of the towers.
When it scans the Action Tag, the interactive figure starts a battle with Bowser, marked by his emblem appearing on the figure's chest, along with "Bowser BGM" from Super Mario World. The figure then has to stomp on Bowser nine times until he is seemingly defeated. "World Clear" from Super Mario Bros. then plays, but is interrupted by Bowser as the second phase of the battle begins. During this phase, Bowser becomes invulnerable, indicated by the fireballs on the interactive figure's display. Any attacks from the figure only causes the figure to get dizzy instead. The POW Block must then be found and jumped on by the figure in order to allow it to once again damage Bowser. If the POW Block is not pressed, the invulnerability effect goes away after some time. After Bowser is made vulnerable again, it takes the interactive figure another twelve jumps to defeat him.
If the interactive figure previously initiated a level via a Start Pipe from a starter course, defeating Bowser also triggers the end of the level.
Unlike other elements in the interactive LEGO Super Mario theme, the Action Tag at the base is the only Action Tag used in the battle. When scanned, the interactive figure will then identify any piece in the colors of the Bowser puppet as part of him. The blue POW Block is also identified based on its color.
