Slamming is a special move introduced in Luigi's Mansion 3 that can be performed by both Luigi and Gooigi. To perform it, the player must pull on a ghost's tail until the suction gauge is filled up. The player can then press A Button to slam the ghost in any direction that the player makes Luigi or Gooigi face. Every time a ghost is slammed, it loses a chunk of its HP and drops some money. Additionally, any destructible object the player slams the ghost into is destroyed and any ghost that the player slams another ghost into loses a chunk of their HP.

While slamming causes ghosts to lose HP significantly faster than sucking them up, by delaying the slam, even after it is able to be activated, and instead waiting to slam until ghosts are about to break free, Luigi and Googi can inhale ghosts much quicker than if they slam as soon as possible. This allows many boss ghosts such as Clem to be defeated in only two cycles.

A slam can also be performed on some objects if said objects have a Suction Shot stuck to them.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Luigi's forward and back throws resemble the slam move.
