Dorakyū are aerodynamic, vampire bat-resembling enemies in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong. They are first encountered in Stage 4-5. Dorakyū fly horizontally, slightly moving up and down and turning in the opposite direction after bumping into a wall, usually passing by ropes Mario can climb. When one of these enemies intercepts Mario, it hangs onto and appears to drain him. Mario is shown to progressively turn pale, suggesting blood loss. After Mario undergoes the enemy's attack, he drops off the rope he is currently climbing. Depending on the height reached from the ground beneath, Mario might either survive the fall or lose a life upon crashing onto the soil. Even though it is risky for Mario to directly interact with Dorakyū bats, these can be knocked out with either falling fruit or carriable objects and enemies.

In Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Bats take the role of Dorakyū, borrowing a similar attack pattern. Swoops also display similar flight movement in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.
