- This article is about Fake Blocks from Super Mario 3D Land. For the fake Item Boxes from the Mario Kart series, see Fake Item Box.
Fake Blocks[1] are enemies appearing in Super Mario 3D Land. They are dark brown Brick Blocks with a Tanooki tail and white eyes representing an angry face.
Fake Blocks appear in plain grasslands and Airship levels. They appear alongside regular Brick Blocks, but are noticeable by their darker tone, along with the subtle shape of their closed eyes. If Mario or Luigi get close, it will reveal itself and jump after him, swinging its tail if it gets too close. They can be defeated with the swing of a Tanooki tail, a Ground Pound, or by jumping up and breaking the block, though the latter only works when it is not active.
