World 3-5 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)
Template:Levelbox World 3-5 is the second athletic level, and seventh overall level, of World 3 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is unlocked the first time that World 3-4 is completed. This is a vertical level which auto-scrolls when all players step on the rotating pink block. Completing this level unlocks the ! Switch on the World 3 Map. There are hidden blocks in Worlds 3-4 and 3-5 which turn into red blocks when this switch is activated.
This course only needs to be completed once to progress in the game, but must be completed twice in order to collect all of the Star Coins and access the level's Secret Exit (except in multiplayer-see "Secret Exit").
Layout
The players must ascend through this auto-scrolling level using a rotating pink block, while avoiding red and green Koopa Troopas and Fire Piranha Plants There are Propellor Mushrooms, Propellor Blocks and ice blocks available to assist the players, along with red blocks which only appear after activating the ! Switch in the World 3 Map. At the pink block elevator is a green Warp Pipe leading to another rotating pink block and the Goal Pole.
Star Coins
The second and third Star Coins are only available after the ! Switch is activated.
- Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is floating to the far right of the first Fire Piranha Plant. Mario and co. can obtain it with a Propeller Mushroom or Propeller Block, or by jumping at just the right time so as to avoid falling.
- Star Coin 2: Instead of taking the green exit pipe at the end of the level, Mario and co. should jump up from the pink block to the red block platform, then up to the red pipe. In the next section, the second Star Coin is on top of many Ice Blocks, guarded by a Red Koopa Troopa.
- Star Coin 3: Not far from the second Star Coin, the third Star Coin is floating in midair, guarded by four Koopa Paratroopas. Mario and co. should jump to the Star Coin while avoiding the Paratroopas.
Secret Exit
World 3-5 has a Secret Exit which is only accessible after the ! Switch has been activated, meaning the level must be played through twice to access it (except in multiplayer-see below). This hidden path contains the level's second and third Star Coins. When the players reach the top of the first pink block elevator, they can jump onto a platform of red blocks to access a red Warp Pipe. The players must then ascend another pink block elevator while avoiding more Koopa Troopas and Paratroopas and collecting the remaining two Star Coins. Once the block reaches the top of the level, the Red Flagpole is located immediately to the right. This exit unlocks a Yellow Toad House.
There is a way players can access the red pipe without activating the ! Switch, which is seen in the walk-through video for this level in Peach's Castle. This can only be done with two or more players. One player should grab a Propeller Block, while another player should stand on it. Then, the player holding the Propeller Block should fly up underneath the red pipe; if positioned correctly, the player standing on the Propeller Block should be able to access the red pipe once they are adjacent to it.
