Tail Wheels[1] are objects in Super Mario 3D Land. Tail Wheels are wooden wheels that appear on top of some platforms, and when spun by a hit with Tanooki Mario's tail, they rotate, causing the platform to ascend, allowing the player to reach a new area of the level. They are replaced by Cat Wheels in Super Mario 3D World.
