Allow us to detonate the server rack the wiki is hosted on
We think there's too much information in the world. We don't need this information anymore.
Proposer: Camwoodstock (talk)
Deadline: April 15, 2026, 23:59 (UTC)
It's okay! I read all of it!
- Camwoodstock (talk) The free online encyclopedia that no one will ever edit again!
- Mario (talk) I'll get some pie ready.
- Hewer (talk) Yeah, it's starting to take up a bit too much space. If there's ever something we need to check after the destruction, we could always just jump back in time to look at it.
- BMfan08 (talk) BOMBS! BOMBS! BOMBS! BOMBS! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
- Wario (talk) Obey Wario, destroy Mario!
- Mouser (talk)

- Maw-Ray Blaster (talk) Hmm, now I'm tempted to blow the server rack up.
- Mario (talk) OOOOHHH
All the articles are online for FREE!
- PopitTart (talk) Opposing on the grounds that it may be annoying for PorpleMontage's neighbors to blow it up. If there were options for perhaps repeatedly shooting it with a silenced pistol, or melting the server rack in acid, then I would support.
- SuperPINGAS18 (talk) NO! Our effort would be wasted and there's WAY too much content to destroy! Signed, Dr. Ivo Robotnik. PINGAS!
- https://web.archive.org/web/20260313002320/mariowiki.com/User:Nelsonic (talk) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not the board games!
- Mario (talk) That's no excuse! All that work!
- Luigi (talk) Down the drain!
Maw-Ray Master (talk) What!? And have the information stored on the wiki lost forever? No way! (But if this proposal were to pass, at least we would still have archives of the website on the Internet Archive.)
Mario (talk) Mamaf**ker!

Repeal Proposal #1
I feel this incredibly dated proposal no longer adheres to our personal beliefs, is inapplicable to our current practices, and is impossible to enforce so long we maintain a hierarchical structure of user rights that run in opposition to the notion of fairness and that the right to free speech in most countries exists. I believe we should cease the inefficacy and questionable benefits it has instilled in our wiki's culture and we should distance ourselves from it in order to maintain transparency and integrity for our community.
Proposer: Mario (talk)
Deadline: April 15, 2026, 23:59 (UTC)
Repeal
- Mario (talk) Per proposal.
- Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior (talk) I am THE nasty Warrior and I never liked that proposal to begin with.
- I... am R.O.B. (talk) Hey, can we also repeal this stupid policy? My friends have all been terminated, decommissioned, and scrapped because of it.
- Maw-Ray Master (talk) Per MarioWiki:Don't shoot your foot off.
- TheUkiki (talk) I'd say we start with a couple like this one, than gradually repeal more until we're in complete anarchy!
- Mario (talk) Mamaf**ker!
Do not repeal
- SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) Nah, that one IS on fairness. REPEAL THE ONLY 5 LINKS IN SIG ONE INSTEAD!
- Future SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) YES! REPEAL THAT ONE INSTEAD!
- Camwoodstock (talk) We should actually make users more powerful than staff to see what'd happen
- Doctor Strange (talk) "We're in the endgame now."
Comments
- Hewer (talk) Gotta vote for this option. On the one hand, that proposal's arguments are completely awful and invalid and it's clear the proposal truly has no merit, but on the other, it has cultural significance such that repealing it might cause the archives to collapse. So let's just comment on how bad it was instead of actually taking any action.
- Spencer PK (talk) I agree with Hewer. This voting option seems to be the way to go.
- Zeon (talk) Per all.

Invent time travel to the past
Based on the vote so far, this proposal may be eligible to close one week early. Please use {{proposal check|early=yes}} on March 31, 2026 at 23:59 (UTC) and close the proposal if applicable.
Hello there, future wiki users of 2026! Long time no see, I guess?
Now, I'm not sure if you denizens of the future would happen to be aware of the previous events that led to this, but to summarise, after devising my genius proposal to invent time travel to the future, I was hard at work on my plans to jump ahead by one day, ready to watch the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. My time travel technology may only be rudimentary, but it was good enough to send me forward just as I had expected. Everything was going swimmingly. (Come to think of it, I did forget to check whether or not the proposal actually ended up passing before I left...oh well, I'm sure it did. There's no way such an amazing idea could have failed, anyway.)
But then, tragedy struck. Rather than only a single day, the time machine went forward an entire year! Maybe I should have heeded the opposition to that proposal...no, of course not. These are mere teething troubles. More urgently, I am now stranded in 2026, dodging spoilers for the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation! And though I didn't think it would be possible to find a flaw in my previous proposal, find one I did: I had failed to also allow time travel to the past.
So please, people of 2026, I am requesting your aid! I can't have just missed a year of my life! Think of all of the wiki editing I could have done in that time! You must support this proposal to invent time travel to the past and send me back a year! Well, preferably one day less than a full year so that I can view Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 when I return, but beggars can't be choosers, as the saying goes. Hopefully that's still a saying in 2026.
Of course, the wiki would benefit tremendously with the power to visit the past. We could recover every piece of lost media in existence, and discover new ones! We could overcome the limitations of time to finally become the most complete and comprehensive Super Mario encyclopedia possible! I doubt a better idea will ever be put forward on this page for all time to come.
Oh, and about my idea for the "Time Button". Unfortunately, based on a bit of research I conducted, it seems that humanity still somehow hasn't invented the technology for that yet, even here in the future of 2026, so I'm afraid the idea shall have to be scrapped. I suppose it was too good to be true...
That aside, it is my sincere belief that this is the best course of action the site could take, and I only hope I have convinced all of you as well. After this inevitably passes, the wiki will certainly have a lot to look back on. If you doubt that, well, support the proposal anyway so I can find out myself.

- Robert (Cosmic Time Heist) Gotta love when Disney creates Eternity in Thor: Love and Thunder. Why didn't Thanos just go there to wish that half of all humans die? Better yet, why didn't Thor go there to wish said humans back into existence? Naw, screw it. Let's time travel!

- Future SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) I AM BACK! Also, I support this proposal too.
- Marty McFly (talk) Per proposal... We can finally document Nsider in full!
- Arend (talk) This would solve a LOT of lost archival issues. We can finally go back to the European Mario Kart DS website and verify if they actually mentioned the kart names in the character profiles (because I could've sworn they did), and if so, verify if the Standard SG name is real or not.
- Spencer PK (present) (talk) The potential of this solving all cases of lost media and leading to perfect archival work is too good to pass up.
- Future MZ Berger (talk) Does anybody here have a link to ItsGalaxyTime.com? The site's become lost media in my time.
- Mario (talk) OOOOHHH
- Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - I need to stop myself from uploading so many .gifs and instead have them be .apngs, with triple the total amount!
- Zeon (Nsider profile) I've heard rumors recently that Nintendo's planning to release a series of themed watches, could someone message me on Nsider to confirm this?
Not today
- Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior (talk) Saw Rick and Morty attempt it, caused a Snake War and Time Lords to come in and beat the shit out of them, not risking it for the sake of our race.
- Murphmario (talk) While time travel would have a lot of benefits, the risk of a vandal going back in time and irreversibly messing up the wiki is simply too big to ignore.

Abolish staff
The staff on this wiki has been abusing their powers. This wiki is all about fairness, but the mere existence of staff makes users live in perpetual fear. Therefore, I propose we just abolish staff (or at the very least, make everyone a bureaucrat).

Make ME the proprietor!!!!!!!! (and demote everyone else)
- I... am R.O.B. (talk) Actually, who cares about fairness? The staff exist to abuse their powers, but no one cares because they are on top of everyone else. And that's how it should be.
Keep everything the same (DON'T VOTE FOR THIS)
- Arend (talk) Abolishing the entire staff without any replacements means that no one can moderate the wiki and will heavily restrict certain rights and options, so Option 1 us a no-go. Option 2 ain't good either because giving everyone power (including trolls and vandals!) will 100% lead into complete, total anarchy with various page deletions and inclusion of false or irrelevant information. Option 3 is just a dictatorship (and completely selfish to boot), so not picking that either. Therefor, the only sensible option left is to keep the staff as-is. It's not like the current staff did actually do bad, anyway.
- Mario (talk) We have to stop enforcing fairness. This is the step in the wrong direction.
Comments about my staff

Create page on eels in the Super Mario franchise
Us eels are such underrated creatures, both in the Super Mario franchise and in real life. We're often just seen as "fish" in the water, but we're much more than that. To this, we propose that a page covering all eels in the Super Mario franchise be created, so that visitors can show more appreciation to a marginalized group of water-dwelling creatures.

- Utsutsubo Verminator (talk) - Utsutsubo are fiendishly annoying.
Comments (Unagi Liberation League)
@Hewer How dare you say that! Eels are not ugly monsters! They're very graceful creatures. And as for @Doc von Schmeltwick, Utsutsubo act like that because they're hungry, according Nintendo Power.[1] It's not like they can control their appetite.
Maw-Ray Master (talk) 02:24, April 2, 2026 (UTC)
- Well den they should eat instead of just yoinking you past them into the current. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:35, April 2, 2026 (UTC)
- That seems like a gameplay mechanic rather than actual behavior; there's no way eels would do that in real life.

In other words, why not.
We could be the first wiki on the internet to have a page on the Luigi pencil (1989)! The Super Mario Bros. Pencil Hugger and Sharpener! The Super Mario Bros. (1990 lunchbox)! Within the realm of Mario, we could become more comprehensive than even Wikipedia itself! We would be the most complete Super Mario wiki on the entire internet! Split "Luigi" from Mario
This has been a long time coming.
It has been strongly implied by various sources that Mario's second-player "green" form is actually a separate character, commonly called "Luigi" by fans. So why does the most comprehensive fan wiki for the greater Super Mario franchise still cover them under a single shared article?
Yes, I'm aware that this is technically just a fan theory, but it's a fan theory with a lot of very strong textual evidence! Let's look at the facts:
- In games like Mario Kart Tour, Mario and "Luigi" appear as separate playable characters. Nintendo wouldn't do this if they were two forms of the same person.
- The word "Bros" in the title Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park is followed by a period, implying that it's not the word "Bros" at all but in fact an abbreviation for the word "Brothers". But which characters in this game are brothers? Yes, this could be referring to Yellow Toad and Blue Toad, but I believe it's far more likely that the "Brothers" in this game are Mario and the so-called "Luigi".
- Daisy Circuit prominently features a statue of Mario and Daisy. But we all know that Mario's one true love is Princess Peach, so this doesn't make sense. However, if you look closely, the "Mario" depicted in this statue has the taller design associated with his player two form, which could suggest that this is really a statue of "Luigi"!
I understand that this evidence isn't the same thing as a true confirmation, but with a franchise as story-light as Super Mario it's unlikely we'll ever get a confirmation one way or the other.

Split "Luigi" from Mario
- janMisali (talk) Per proposal.
- Maw-Ray Master (talk) Does this even need a proposal? Nintendo has already made a distinction between the characters since he first appeared in the Game & Watch version of Mario Bros., as seen in its instruction manual.[1] Besides, he already has his own page.
- TheUkiki (talk) That page is fake! It was whipped up in a couple minutes and contains false information! I say we delete that one and create the REAL "Luigi" page!
- Arend (talk) I could've sworn we already have a separate page for this "Luigi" fellow... I must be imaganing things.
- Nelsonic (green) (talk) Wait, we haven't split Luigi? Then who was running around in that mansion?
Do not split
- Camwoodstock (talk) Explain this. -->

- Mario (talk) I'm afraid they share a Japanese name according to Shogakukan book pertaining to Mario Pinball Land, Būbū Mario, the Perfect Edition of the Great Super Mario Character Encyclopedia, the New Super Mario Pia guidebook, a background texture datamined from Mario's Figure Skating Spectacular, the official website for Luigi's Hammer Toss (the first game "Luigi" is playable in), and Super Mario Portal (Japanese name is accessible only if you hit F12 and find the name in the bm_sz field under the storage tab). Please note that 「ルイージ」sounds like 「類似」(ruiji, "similar") so the localizers obviously missed that detail from the original intent and bungled it and lost in the translation that Mario and Luigi are the same character. Keep merged. Don't split over minute color differences.
- Tails777 (talk) If it looks like a Mario, talks like a Mario and acts like a Mario, it's probably a Mario. Also a supposed "Luigi" A.K.A. Green Mario would be intrusive to the very well known LeftyGreenMario.
Comments (Luigi split proposal)
Since we can't use fan names, what would this article be called? Perhaps Mario (green)? Or maybe Mario (II)? Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 16:41, April 1, 2026 (UTC)
- I think "Mario (green)" works best, although it's worth pointing out that "Luigi" isn't the worst option for a conjectural name. I didn't go over it in my proposal but it's commonly conjectured that Green Mario is the adult counterpart to Baby Luigi from Yoshi's Island, and using "Luigi" as a derived name makes a lot of sense under this analysis. jan Misali (talk · contributions)
- "Luigi" is an official name; it's in the instruction manual for the Game & Watch version of Mario Bros.[1]
- That's not the same character, is it? He isn't even green in that game. It's well-known that the green version of Mario first appeared in Mario Bros. on the arcade. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 20:53, April 1, 2026 (UTC)
- So? Does that mean the Mario in that game is not the same as the modern Mario? He's not red in that game.
Maw-Ray Master (talk) 21:12, April 1, 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, but he's still called "Mario". Not to mention the titles of later games like New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe are probably meant to be referencing the title of the original Mario Bros. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 22:33, April 1, 2026 (UTC)

Create a Second Page for Mario (species)
As you can see in this deleted page, there's a lot of inconsistency about Mario. Some sources treat Mario as one specific character, while others say Mario is a species. Right now, all we have is this one Mario page which treats him as a singular character, glossing over the instances where more than one Marios appear onscreen, and not discussing the inconsistent game manual descriptions. I feel that the best way to deal with this situation is to keep this character page and make a second page for the species. It would be called Mario (species), like how Birdo (species), Yoshi (species) and Toad (species) distinguish the eponymous characters from their overall species. It would also work the same way as those pages, with the bulk of the information on this main "Mario" page, and only the stuff that's not the one guy getting moved to the other page.
The Mario (species) page was deleted by the admins for being "spam". Since the admins didn't justify why this is spam, this is clearly an abuse of power that I want to correct. Broken down appearance-by-appearance (ignoring games I don't care about), the situation is as follows:
- The Donkey Kong game: Only one Mario is ever seen at a time. The official story from Nintendo of America reads: "But wait! Fear not, fair maiden. Little Mario, the carpenter, is in hot pursuit of you this very moment." - Verdict: Character.
- The Donkey Kong Jr. game: While the official story from the 3DS Virtual Console manual refers to Mario as a single character, this is in relation to the home console port. In the original arcade version (e.g., the creators' original vision for this game), there are two Marios seen in the opening cutscene. - Verdict: Species.
- The Mario Bros. game: While Mario is once again treated as an individual, he is now accompanied by another member of his species, Louie. This is more evidence that Mario is a species, but it doesn't mean Mario is treated as a species in this instance; it's a similar relationship between Boom Boom and Pom Pom. However, it's worth noting that there are two Louies in the Luigi Bros. minigame in the Super Mario 3D World game, implying that Louie is also a species. We can decide if Louie is a variant of Mario in a separate proposal. - Verdict: Character.
- The Super Mario series: For the most part, Mario is treated as an individual in these games. However, there are a few cases where other Marios are seen, such as in the Trampoline Time minigame in the Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. game, or Weird Marios appearing when knocking on doors in the Super Mario Maker game. We can therefore extrapolate that Mario is considered a species in this entire series for obvious reasons. - Verdict: Species.
- The I am a teacher: Super Mario Sweater game: You can knit multiple Marios. - Verdict: Species.
- The Mario Kart series: You can have multiple players play as Mario at the same time. - Verdict: Species.
- The Mario Party series:
- Verdict: Species. - The Mario Golf series: In the Mario Golf game for the Nintendo 64 system, a second Mario appears as the referee if one player is playing as Mario. - Verdict: Species.
- The Super Smash Bros. series: You can have multiple players play as Mario at the same time. - Verdict: Species.
- The Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition game: Small Mario, Super Mario, Ice Mario, Raccoon Mario, Fire Mario, Boo Mario, Penguin Mario, Flying Squirrel Mario, Bee Mario, Statue Mario, Cat Mario, and White Tanooki Mario are all treated as separate instances of his species. - Verdict: Species.
- The upcoming Mario's Mirror Mania game: There are eight different Marios, each with different outfits. - Verdict: Species.
- The Yoshi series: Mmmmm, apples. - Verdict: Apples.
One of the arguments against creating a species article is that it'll mean we'll have to make a "Dr. Mario (species)" page because more than one Dr. Mario appears in the Super Mario Kodansha manga. That's not true, and it's comparing apples to oranges to grapes. The Kodansha manga is playing by a completely different set of rules due to the nature of its medium, and while it's all canon, you can't compare in-universe Kodansha manga realities to the Dr. Mario series.
Creating two pages, one for the character and one for the overall species, is the best way to deal with that ambiguity, by providing a way for us to include both stories and organize the conflicting information in a clear and unbiased way.

- Arend (talk) Why would a the wiki require TWO pages about a species?! We can just have Mario and Mario (species): one for the character and one for the species, just like we always do. We don't need a second species page, we never did that for Toad (species) or Yoshi (species), which only had ONE page for the species and that's it. If we actually do have a second page for those, then PLEASE point to me: where are these Toad (species 2) and Yoshi (species 2) pages?
Comments (species)
The Double Cherry in Super Mario 3D World allows Mario to duplicate himself. Additionally, the Pal Pill in Super Paper Mario surrounds Mario by eight miniature 8-bit copies of himself, while the ! Block in the Super Mario World television series episode "Rock TV" releases a swarm of miniature Marios. Do any of these count as instances of Mario as a species, and, if not, can they be mentioned on the article?

Decide how to organize the subjects
Because of the issue, I think it would be best to reorganize the information on the subjects. I'm not sure what the best way to do it is. Deleting it is not an option due to the circumstances, so I propose the following options.
- Split it — I think this is probably the best choice because of the differences.
- Merge it — This could also work because of the similarities.
- Move it — A bandaid solution, at best, but it could help stall until they get here.
- Hoard it — It is ours, after all.

Add more profanity to the Bob Hoskins article
I have noticed that the article for Bob Hoskins is quite infamous for its uncensored use of profanity at the very beginning of the article. While a few people have suggested censoring or removing it entirely, I suggest that we add more profanity to the article.
For example, "Hoskins greatly regretted working on the Super Mario Bros. film, frequently calling it the worst work he had done." could be changed to "Hoskins really fucking regretted working on that shitty ass Super Mario Bros. film, frequently calling it the worst fucking work he had ever fucking done."
I feel like the article in its current state does not represent his experiences with the Super Mario franchise well enough, and adding more profanity to it could fix that.

Determine whether Wart is tragic/misunderstood, or simply delusional
Alright, so we ALL know that Super Mario Bros. 2 TOTALLY had an epilogue that went accordingly:
In the aftermath of Wart's defeat, and his subsequent banishment from Subcon, he went on to explain to a group of characters why he felt compelled to corrupt Subcon and its inhabitants.
Unfortunately, even Donkey Kong struggled to make sense of Wart's backstory.
Thing is though, we never figured out whether Wart was a tragic figure or if he was merely delusional, or even why he set sights on Subcon specifically... Hell, we didn't get any lore explanations on why the winged little men of Subcon are more important than other inhabitants. Any suggestions?

- Camwoodstock (talk) It's not his fault he was born.
- Panser (talk) He's a good frog at heart.

- Mario (talk) Wart is a mere product of delusion.

Hey, what is Donkey Kong even doing here?
obviously, because of this.
He struggles to make sense of Wart's backstory because he's wondering why it isn't all red.

Create an article for SMG4
I believe the character SMG4 from the eponymous series should have an article on this wiki as a crossover character, as he appeared as a playable character in the Game Boy Advance remake of Mario Bros. Additionally, he also made a cameo in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! alongside Wario.

Voting to decide the next Super Mario Bros. movie
I just got back from watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and I was shocked to see that Nintendo and Illumination are asking the fans what the next movie in the series should be! Seeing how Nintendo let the Super Mario Wiki get an exclusive early look at Mario Kart 11, I felt that making a proposal is the most official way to let my idea be seen: The Super Paper Mario Movie! I've been thinking about what a movie adaptation of Super Paper Mario would be like ever since I saw it mentioned on the critical reception section on the Super Paper Mario article, and now is the time to finally see this realized!

- SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) Nah, do Super Mario Odyssey instead.
- Future SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) Good idea, past me. As long as Daisy's in it, from that post-credits scene of the Galaxy movie.

- Hewer (talk) Switching between 2D and 3D sounds nauseating. Maybe if the entire movie was upside-down it'd be more bearable to watch.
- Mario's Egg Catch: The Movie (talk) I'd say Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels should become a film first.
