Cutout is a technique used by Huey in Paper Mario: Color Splash. In similar fashion to the Paperize ability from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Cutout allows Mario to manipulate his surroundings to progress and reveal secrets. Cutout allows Mario to enter the foreground and cut out a shape seen in the level by tracing dotted lines that appear on the GamePad. Depending on where it is performed, Mario can either enter the Cutout, place a Battle Card in it, or remove it in order to reveal something. Huey introduces Cutout to help Mario jump over a gate in Cherry Lake, the third level of the game. There are 47 total Cutouts found throughout Prism Island.
