Toad is a hybrid live-action/animated streaming television series serving as a spin off of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The series stars Keegan-Michael Key reprising his role of Toad in the movies, as Toad is transported into the Real World.

The first season, composed of five episodes, is expected to commence airing in January 2027. A second season composed of three episodes is expected to air sometime in 2032.

Summary

Due to an incident involving a demonstration of a new invention by Professor E. Gadd, Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) is transported to suburban Minnesota where he is found and adopted by the quirky but loving Bihldorff family. While getting used to life with his new folks and trying to find a way back home, Toad must deal with odd occurrences in town that appear supernatural in origin.

The protagonist. The family is convinced that he is a child due to his appearance, A key part of Toad arc is his desire to find out what happened to his missing and presumably deceased father, implied to be Toadsworth (who is left unnamed and doesn’t appear because Toad forgot).

A quirky and forgetful inventor whose new invention, the Mk. 64 Drivel-Drive, transports Toad into our world. He can communicate with Toad through the Drivel Drive.

The spunky young adult of the family and Toad's closest confidant. She is in an apprenticeship to become a plumber.

A depraved and perpetually-hungry monster who was transported to the Real World eons ago. He is responsible for the odd incidents.

Another creature that was transported to the real world and has been the source of cryptid sightings for the past millenia. Noshi appears five minutes in the opening episode to deliver exposition and then is transported to Dinohattan after having a "dimension arrow" fired at him due to the expenses of Clooney’s salary [1].

An insane bounty hunter hired by the US government who mistakenly believes Toad to be responsible for the incidents. She tries to capture him to cash in her bounty at Area 51.

An ancient sun god imprisoned at Area 51, who Claudia mistook for an alien. Toad frees him and he turns giant for the perfunctory climax Kaiju battle for the final episode.

Claudia, a government employee for Area -1 and the crazed bounty hunter on the search for cryptids, mistakenly believes that Toad could be her big payday...
5 The Belome and The Beast Alan Smithee 2028.
A second part to "Welcome to Area -1". Toad and Belome must form a fire-forged friendship as they try to make it out of Area -1 with the other cryptids.

Availability

The series will be available to stream on Gooble in the United States. Due to Gooble not being available in Canada, the series will instead air on Glorpedo[2]. In most of Western Europe, the series will stream on Beezley except in the Netherlands where it instead will stream on Biddybud. In Southern Azerbaijan, the series is licensed to Bomp.

Production

According to early reports, a 7-minutes orchestral arrangement of the Wario's Woods theme was composed by Brian Tyler for the series, but was replaced by the track "From the Woods!!" by James Vincent McMorrow[3].
