Please add a link to the personality quiz you created.[edit]
Please add a link to the personality quiz you created. Also, all options and outcomes of the quiz should be covered on the page itself. You can use this page as reference. Axii (talk) 23:22, November 17, 2024 (EST)
Alright, I added the questions and outcomes. I'm not exactly sure how to link to the quiz, though, as I am not entirely sure how adding references works and the only link I can find is a re-upload that has not been archived by the Wayback Machine. Nelsonic (talk) 12:20, November 18, 2024 (EST)
It would help a lot if you added the link to the Flash game on the image file and game pages, so readers know where the information comes from (and that they're official). MarioWiki:Citations explains how to cite an external source if you're using it as a reference, or you can add an "External links" section at the bottom of the article with the link. For file pages, just add the link in the "2=" parameter in the aboutfile summary.
Mario JC 20:35, November 24, 2024 (EST)
Image categories[edit]
When adding categories to images, they should always be [[Category:(Game title) images]]
Categories that don't end in "images" or "media files" like Category:Browser games do not go on file pages; they're for articles only.
Mario JC 06:29, November 18, 2024 (EST)
Again, don't add "Browser games" as an image category. The image category should be "Category:(game) images" (without the parentheses - replace "(game)" with the game title).
Mario JC 20:18, November 18, 2024 (EST)
If you create a new game image category, make sure it gets the category Category:Game images.
Mario JC 21:10, November 21, 2024 (EST)
Moving files[edit]
After moving a file, make sure to update its names on any articles linking to them (listed under "File usage" on the file page), then mark the old name for deletion with {{delete}}.

Thanks[edit]
| Luigi says you're a winner! Great job on your edits! |
I just wanted to thank you on your coverage towards flash games almost nobody has heard of. Those could've gone under the radar, especially the iQue WarioWare ones. I also want to thank you for being one of the people who inspired me to join the wiki and make my first edit on a talk page so I could document Banpresto arcade games I discovered.
And one more thing, a confession. I didn't actually play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Joke Spinner. I just saw Supper Mario Broth's article about the game and saw that as an opportunity to write a whole page with the information he had because I thought that was all that was available. (Sorry if that was edit-sniping). And then you told me about FEkids and that lead to a whole other discovery. Thanks for everything.
Rykitu (talk) December 11th, 2024
You're welcome! I'm glad I was able to inspire you to join the wiki, as well. I guess my endless Wayback Machine doom-scrolling is paying off. I'm not really in a position to say whether or not that's edit sniping (I literally just googled the term haha), but I'm sure it's all right. If you would like to play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Joke Spinner, the archived version from FEKids is available here. Nelsonic (talk) 11:29, December 12, 2024 (EST)
Mario Golf blaster[edit]
What is the context behind this name you chose?
Mario JC 01:01, December 26, 2024 (EST)
Certain early 2000s promotional games such as this were referred to as such, either because the content was marketed towards a large audience (similar to promotional email blasts) or because the game itself was quite short (metaphorically "blasting" the viewer with a Mario Golf promotion). Aboutfile template[edit]
|
Hello, Nelsonic. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. {{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}
Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter |
Hiya! Awesome work on your recent uploads, but the "aboutfile" template must be used. You're removing the template and providing the necessary information on its own. Check my edit here for a reference - I put the information in the correct parameters of the "aboutfile" template. Thanks so much!
Sparks (talk)
16:35, December 27, 2024 (EST)
Got it. Thanks for letting me know. I will try and use the template correctly for future uploads. Nelsonic (talk) 16:36, December 27, 2024 (EST)
I am confused about something, though. On the upload page it says "The text in the summary box is preloaded syntax for the aboutfile template, which must be formatted correctly or removed before uploading". Is this stating that the placeholder text should be removed, or is it stating that the entire template should be removed? I assume it is the former, though I thought I should ask for clarification. Nelsonic (talk) 16:42, December 27, 2024 (EST)
- The placeholder text (for example, "Subject of the image") must be removed and replaced with a description of the image, like
The logo for ''[[Bowser's Diary Quiz]]'', an HTML quiz available on the Paper Mario website.. There are five parameters, each with their own section:
- "Subject of the image" is for describing what the image is.
- "Where you found the image" describes the source of where the image was found.
- "Artist" is for artwork and music. List the artist(s) involved with the image.
- "Describe edits, if any" is for whatever modifications you made to the image, such as cropping.
- "Other versions (use file link)" is to link to files similar to the image (like character artwork with a different background"
Not all parameters have to be used. Simply remove the ones you don't need! Hope this helps!

Hi! One of the pages you have created, Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun Bundle, has been considered for deletion, if not merge/redirect to the main article (Mario's Early Years! Fun with Numbers) due to the page falling out of scope of coverage for the wiki. If you have any comments to add, you can do so at Talk:Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun Bundle.

More flash games on Waluigi.com[edit]
I was looking through the comment section on a video discussing the history of Waluigi, which had an entire segment talking about the very infamous Waluigi's Foot Fault and I found some new information regarding the other swf files found in the websites data. According to the comment, Deface Painting was about graffiti spraying Mario, Luigi and Peach's faces, and Paint the Lines was about a robot painting the lines of the tennis court in the colors of Wario and Waluigi. Here's the video:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kbUyHJBrRnQ&pp=ygUUd2FsdWlnaSdzIGZvb3QgZmF1bHQ%3D and the comment was written by someone named GuineaPigDan. You won't have to scroll down far to find it.

April Fools[edit]
Hey, it's great you took the time to archive everything, but can you add the proposals back for now? It's still April 1st for some people, and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to participate. So our jokes usually last into the 2nd wiki time. When the wiki changes its front page back, then you can archive. Thanks! Technetium (talk) 21:18, April 1, 2025 (EDT)
- @Technetium Ah. Alrighty. I wasn't sure whether we went by Greenwich Mean Time for this or not. What should I do with the archived page? Nelsonic (talk) 21:20, April 1, 2025 (EDT)
- I'm not sure, tbh... You could just update it once it ends for real? Also, users on the Discord want all the Funky Kongs. Maybe they can be contained to a subpage. Technetium (talk) 21:22, April 1, 2025 (EDT)
- @Technetium Should I temporarily blank the archive page, migrate the content to my sandbox, and add it plus a link to the Funkypocalypse page once everything is over? Nelsonic (talk) 21:24, April 1, 2025 (EDT)
Donkey Kong (A-Maze-Ing Arcade Game)[edit]
On the list of games, you stated in an edit summary that the eBay image of the Donkey Kong A-Maze-Ing Arcade game has "Game" be part of the title, capitalised. What eBay image are you talking about, exactly? Are you talking about this image? This doesn't have "Game" as part of the title, so it should be lowercase on the list of games, and for the article itself when it is made, right? Either that or I'm just missing something here. Zing Zang Zote
10:51, April 6, 2025 (EDT)
- Ah. Sorry. I think I conflated the eBay listing and the image itself. Nelsonic (talk) 11:22, April 6, 2025 (EDT)
Mario Kart (electronic tabletop pinball)[edit]
I WAS going to add this to the list a while back, but after more researching, something tells me this is unofficial. First of all, Lexibook has a YouTube channel and one of their videos seems to be an advertisement for the game. And the video gives off the vibe that Nintendo had no involvement with the video. Not only that, these guys made a bootleg Nintendo Wii that is literally named after their company.

- Ah. I saw a Nintendo copyright sticker on the box art, but I did not know any background information on the company. I'll remove it. Nelsonic (talk) 15:55, April 17, 2025 (EDT)
Regarding Super Smash Bros. (Shockwave)[edit]
Hello! I am an administrator for the Flashpoint Archive, and I just learned about the Smash Bros. Shockwave game you made an article for and uploaded to the Internet Archive. Where did you find the .dcr file? I am unable to find a source for it, and I am curious if anything else from the German game page was saved. Gardenofraven (talk) 23:37, May 5, 2025 (EDT)
- @Gardenofraven Hi! I believe I originally found a working copy of the .DCR archived from gameboy.de. Here is a link to the game's HTML file, which automatically downloads the .DCR. [1] Nelsonic (talk) 11:52, May 6, 2025 (EDT)
- Ah, thank you so much! I am very unfamiliar with Nintendo's domains in the 90s and 00s, so I likely would not have found this myself. Thank you for taking the time to document these games! Gardenofraven (talk) 15:51, May 7, 2025 (EDT)
- @Gardenofraven You're welcome! I really enjoy writing about these types of things. I do have a few more official Super Mario-related games I found on the Wayback Machine downloaded (which do not appear to be on Flashpoint), if you're interested! Nelsonic (talk) 16:14, May 7, 2025 (EDT)
- I am interested in that! I noticed your upload of Banana Barrage and was going to curate it soon, but I would love to work with you on more! If you are interested in curating them for Flashpoint also, I can help you navigate that. My Discord username is just my username here, if you want to communicate that way. Gardenofraven (talk) 14:24, May 8, 2025 (EDT)
- @Gardenofraven Thank you for the offer, curating them sounds interesting! I'd love to work with you as well! I may have turned my Discord account into a digital version of Fort Knox, however, as I am unsure if I wrote down my password anywhere (I created the account specifically to get a verification code for The Cutting Room Floor)... whoops. In case you didn't see...[edit]
We've got first drafts for both the revised Tech demo page and Internal test page over in the proposal draft zone. We'd appreciate feedback, and especially help tracking down information on the Wi-Fi test thing.
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )

- @Camwoodstock The draft looks great! Unfortunately, the most I've really been able to dig up on DS Wireless Internet Tech Demo (or possibly just DS Wireless Internet; the marquees at the same show referred to DSpeak as DSpeak Tech Demo) is that it appears to have been shown at E3 in 2005 (per the name of the article the image is in), utilized IGN's GameSpy technology, and had Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing DS as the test games. Interestingly, it also appears that - as shown in these pictures - the DS Wireless Internet Tech Demo appeared to also advertise Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing DS, in addition to featuring them as the playable games for the demo in some form, despite both (or at least Mario Kart DS, as this screenshot appears to show a separate booth) presumably being playable separately. The only note I have for either draft is that I don't believe Mario Demo ever had an official title - the last existing draft of the page prior to deletion has the name listed as conjectural. The Lost Media Wiki links to this page, making me think it appropriated the title.

- @Nelsonic Honestly, if you could even uncover just one news page about the DS Wireless Internet Tech Demo, that would be a huge boon. The real hurdle is having something to cite outside of an image, frankly. Also, "Mario Demo" being conjectural would make sense; we'll look into how better to denote that later.

snd_test Stuff[edit]
Since you're the one that started the proposal to give snd_test a page in the first place, we figured we should ask; would it be fine if we uploaded images of sprites and other such things for it? We've got a few of those locked and loaded for ya that we originally got for the Internal Test/Diagnostic Software page.

I have no clue on how to rip those kinds of sprites (my abilities there extend exclusively to Flash/HTML/Shockwave games)... Honestly, I probably ought to learn how to do that as well. Again, sorry I didn't get back sooner!

Re: Lakitu no Mario Kart 64 Maruhi Kōryakuhō[edit]
this article should be titled "Jugemu no Mario Kart 64 Maruhi Kōryakuhō". while our Japanese name policy does allow for us substituting loanwords with their equivalent (as this title does, writing "Kart" instead of "Kāto"), straight up substituting a Japanese name with its English equivalent is not covered by it. i'd move it myself, but i figured it'd be better if i notified you in case you have a reason for it. — eviemaybe

Heads up![edit]
Over on the Mario Boards, there's been an ongoing discussion about how to organize promotional stuff. Since you're one of the main people covering these things, we reckon you should know about it.
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )
18:26, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- @Camwoodstock I saw it. Thanks for telling me. I can't tell exactly where the conversation is going... Is the argument to reorganize/recategorize promo stuff, or...?
Nelsonic (talk edits)
18:28, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- The plan, at least from what we've personally seen, is mostly just to re-organize things better to hopefully delineate these promotional materials better from the games they're promoting. If everything goes according to plan, nothing should have to be outright deleted; this is a "recategorizing, moving, merging" than a "removing".
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )
20:18, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- @Camwoodstock Ahhh that makes sense. I read the Boards conversation and almost had a mini-heart attack since most of the stuff I wrote is, well, this kind of thing. Thanks for telling me. I assume stuff like Super Mario Odyssey Review Round-up or Review: Mario Slam Basketball (DS) would be the kind of thing that'd be a candidate for a merge to something?
Nelsonic (talk edits)
20:29, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- That's actually the sort of thing we were talking about with our post in the thread; either those should just be merged to their corresponding game's pages (as part of a Promotions section), or, if we were to decide that whole websites should get pages as part of this categorization, they'd get merged to those instead.
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )
20:34, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- @Camwoodstock Understood. I just wanted to double-check as to what kind of stuff would get merged; I've started trying to shuffle templates around to move promo content to its own section (such as for the Galaxy Movie and Bros. Movie). Does that help the cluttering issue?
Nelsonic (talk edits)
20:36, February 27, 2026 (UTC)
- Haven't yet seen the movie stuff, so we couldn't really judge those, sorry. In regards to the newly-made Template:Browser navbox, we do like the idea, but that "other" section... Whoof. That ought to be organized far better. We're not sure if maybe giving it sub-divisions by decade (e.g. 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s) or by underlying game engine (e.g. Flash, Shockwave, HTML5) would be better. Either way, it should definitely be more organized than that; it's currently kind of a wastebasket of a section. (Might be something to co-propose, honestly.)
~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs )
01:57, February 28, 2026 (UTC)
- @Camwoodstock Oh. Yeah. Whoops. I kind of rushed the split, so I could go and split off by date at some point.
Nelsonic (talk edits)
02:00, February 28, 2026 (UTC)

I don't understand[edit]
Why are the Wa freaks humans? With their pointy ears, pointy noses, inhuman eyes, and blocky teeth, they look more like goblins. Heck, even TV Tropes has them as ambiguously human.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Colonel Knight Rider (talk).
- @Colonel Knight Rider Wario refers to himself as a human in Wario: Master of Disguise's instruction booklet ("See that big sturdy man on the Touch Screen? That's me...WARIO! Now get me some treasure!"). We don't use TV Tropes as a source, as TV Tropes is a third-party not affiliated with Nintendo.

Respectfully, I must disagree. Just because someone is a man doesn't mean they're a human in works of fiction--just a male of a species. But I am not one to challenge the consensus of the majority viewpoint, I suppose, so you won't be seeing edits from me like that again. Furthermore, I got another perspective from a gent named Nate, who postulated that the Wa freaks are humans in the same way that Mario and Luigi are considered humans in Super Mario Odyssey, just human mutates with abnormally large noses and jumping skills compared to their realistic counterparts.
Also, thank you for unblocking me. What do you say to creating a subcategory of human characters with inhuman characteristics?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Colonel Knight Rider (talk).
- @Colonel Knight Rider I'm not sure I have the authority to approve the category bit (that'd probably have to be approved via proposal or by the administrators), though I do see your point on Wario being the male of a species; though I must add that although there's not much specifically stating that Wario is a human (that I am aware of) outside of his quotes, there also isn't really much stating that he isn't one, either. There's a quote from Wario Land 4 that seems to play to both sides ("I ain't normal! And I don't mean that I'm stupid! I can do aaalllll kinds o' stuff that normal humans can't, you know what I mean? How 'bout that? Amazing, huh?"), and that he uses words such as "Man" and "Guy" to describe himself ("That's it! That’s the stuff! Now, that’s the kind of place a guy like me deserves!!!" [Wario World], "Haven't you kids ever done something that made you look stupid? Oh, is that right? Well, FINE then! But even the powerful Wario gets into some embarrassing situations in this game! I eat too much and get all chubby, a bee stings my face and makes it swell like a balloon, my body catches fire, and all kinds of other bad things happen to me!! But I'm a tough guy, so I keep coming back for more! You wimps could learn something from me!" [Wario Land 4], "Repeat after me.
