Mr. Softener is a worm-like item in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The item can be purchased at Niff T.'s Item Shop in Petalburg for eight Coins. The item "softens" enemies, thus reducing their defense by three points (but will not allow DEF to go below 0). This item can also be cooked by mixing a Courage Shell and a Point Swap. Conversely, cooking a Mr. Softener with almost any type of Mushroom results in a Dried Shroom.
