Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins[edit]
In Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, Screws are encountered in Gear Course of the Mario Zone. The screws wind themselves out of the ground and bounce toward Mario to attack while attempting to drill into him from above. Screws can be defeated either by being jumped on or from a fireball.
Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]
In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, Screws first appear in chapter 1 of Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 2, flying off Luigi Robo's body while fighting the Wario Robo.
Screws reappear in Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 3 as one of the several enemies that Mario and Luigi quickly pass by inside Wario's Castle. During the final battle, Wario sends various flying spiked obstacles at Mario and Heavy Zed. The two redirect them at Wario, leaving him pinned to a wall and vulnerable.
Super Mario-kun[edit]
Screws appears in chapter 7 of volume 7 of Super Mario-kun, used by the Wario hijacked Mario Zone's robot to stop Bunny Mario. The robot first releases the Screws into battle, but Mario seemingly whips them away with his bunny ears, only for the Screws to form a giant fist and punch him.
In chapter 1 of volume 10, the Komoringā flies around the Mario Zone robot, making it dizzy and causing it to puke its entire content onto the enemy robot, including some Screws.

Naming[edit]
Unlike most mainline Super Mario titles, Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins did not receive officially localized enemy indexes at the time of its release on the Game Boy and not all enemies are listed in its instruction booklets. Consequentially, most available non-Japanese names come from localizations of the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia. The English version of the book refers to it as "Neiji",[4] based on its Japanese name "Neijī" (which had been used on the Super Mario Wiki fan website from 2013 to 2022).
