Returning to the platformer area will allow Mario to use FLUDD, and a Red Switch Plate will be placed at the beginning of the course. Ground Pounding it will cause eight red coins to appear throughout the course and the player must collect them all within a time limit of a minute and thirty seconds. Collecting them all within the time limit will cause a Shine Sprite to appear, though failure to collect them within the time limit will result in a life lost. The locations of the red coins are:

  • Over the first set of red and blue platforms
  • Over the spinning star platform on the long, blue platform
  • In the middle of the sliding arrow blocks
  • Two are placed along the path of the vertically scaling cube
  • Three are placed over the second set of flipping red and blue platforms

Once all of the Red Coins are collected, the Shine Sprite will appear on the final platform in the middle (not to be confused with the Episode 6 Shine which is at the end of the platform).
