Yoshi's House is an optional level in Super Mario World and its remake Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, located in Yoshi's Island. Although Mario starts the game on top of its overworld icon, actually entering the level is optional, as the paths to Yoshi's Island 1 and Yoshi's Island 2 are already unlocked.
Layout[edit]
The level consists of a single screen featuring Yoshi's House, which has seven berries hanging from its roof (ten in Super Mario Advance 2). Yoshi is able to eat these berries, though they are only enough to provide a power-up in Super Mario Advance 2. A single Message Block is present in the middle of the screen. If the level is entered without Yoshi, its text will be a note from him. If it is entered with Yoshi, the text will instead provide a hint towards the Yellow Switch Palace. Touching either side of the screen will exit the level.
Message Block text[edit]
- "Hello! Sorry I'm not home, but I've gone to rescue my friends, who were captured by Bowser. — Yoshi" (without Yoshi, either version)
- ""It is possible to fill in the dotted line blocks. To fill in the yellow ones, just go west then north to the top of the mountain." (with Yoshi, Super Mario World)
- "Are you curious about the blocks surrounded by dotted lines? To fill in the yellow ones, just go west, then head north to the mountain's top." (with Yoshi, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2)
- "Hello! Sorry I'm not home. I've gone to play with my friends. I hope to see you again! — Super Dragon Yoshi" (after beating Bowser, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2)
Notes[edit]
- The symbol on the mailbox of Yoshi's House is "〒", the Japanese postal mark.
- The ground in this level is different from other grassland-themed levels, featuring a single line of white pixels. This graphic is also found in the SNES Test Program, suggesting that it is a leftover from earlier in the game's development.
- In Super Mario World, if the player rapidly presses the
and
buttons, the white smoke from the chimney will become glitched.[citation needed]
