Inside Wario's Castle[1] is the final course in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and the only course of Wario's Castle. This level takes place in the interior of the castle. Wario is fought at the end of this level.
Layout[edit]
The level has three floors. The start of the level takes place on a floor that is the shortest of all and contains the least rooms of all, with only one, and near the start is a ? Block that contains a Fire Flower, which Mario can obtain. However, inside this floor are not only some Furizo and Furiko that sway back and forth like a pendulum to damage Mario, but also statued Piranha Plants that shoot fireballs at him, although the larger statued Piranha Plants shoot larger fireballs. There is also pits of lava that causes Mario to lose a life if he falls in any of them. The Pipe at the end leads to the stairway to the second floor. This stairway contains a regular-sized, statued Piranha Plant and another ? Block that contains another Fire Flower, the latter which Mario can obtain if he takes damage on the first floor.
The second floor is longer than the first one and contains two rooms. Propeller Lifts fly back and forth between platforms in the first room, allowing him to get across the lava. The first one passes through narrow spaces, prompting Mario to duck under the hindering pillars, the second one moves right under some platforms, prompting Mario to leave or land on them when they are in motion, and the last two do the same as the previous ones while colliding with each other, increasing the chances of falling into the lava. The next room contains some floor tiles that releases mechanical fists, which are tricky to avoid, forcing Mario to jump over each center floor tile. Afterwards, there are six Skull Platforms that quickly crumble away, forcing Mario to jump off them immediately. Each set of two serves as platforms over each pit of lava. The Pipe at the end leads to the stairway to the third floor. This stairway contains another regular-sized, statued Piranha Plant and even another ? Block that contains another Fire Flower, the latter which Mario can obtain if he takes damage on the second floor.
The third and final floor is the longest of all and contains the most floors of all, with nine. The first room features nine Bone Lifts acting as the opposite of the Flimsy Lift that rise toward the spikes on the ceiling when jumped on, forcing Mario to jump off them immediately, to the point when they stop and fall back to their original position. Each set of three serve as platforms over each pit of lava. The second room contains five Karamenbo, all which crash down from above when Mario draws near before slowly rising to the ceiling, forcing him to move under them. The third room contains only one Floating Face that Mario should defeat, the fourth room contains two that he should defeat, and the fifth room contains the same amount of that of the fourth one. After defeating all the Floating Faces, Mario will gain access to the sixth and final room. Inside this room is not only one last ? Block that contains one last Fire Flower, but also a Pipe leading to the seventh room.
The final area where Mario battles Wario seems to be the only part of the castle that is unfazed by Wario's spell. Evidence that supports this is the noticeable M designs on the windows, brick walls that have Super Mushrooms and Carrots on them, and a Mario statue in the part where the second phase of the final battle takes place. The battle with Wario begins as he gets off his throne and stomps the ground, not only stunning Mario, but also causing the crystal balls moving across the ceiling above to fall.[2] If Mario jumps on Wario three times in the throne room, the latter will head to the eighth room. In front of this room is a Carrot, which Mario can pick up to transform into Bunny Mario. If Mario arrives at the eighth room, Wario will start his second phase by using a Carrot to transform into Bunny Wario.[3] This gives him the ability to flutter across the screen before slamming the ground. If Mario jumps on Bunny Wario three times, the latter will head to the ninth and final room. In front of this room is a Super Mushroom that only Small Mario can pick up to transform into Super Mario after taking a specific number of deals of damage, as picking it up as either Fiery Mario or Bunny Mario will revert Mario into his Super form. If Mario arrives at the last room, Wario will start his third and final phase by using a Fire Flower to transform into Fiery Wario.[4] In this phase, Fiery Wario starts by shooting a fireball at Mario before leaping across the screen and shooting more at him upon landing. If Mario jumps on Fiery Wario three times, Wario is defeated, to the point when he shrinks down and throws off one of his shoes at Mario before running off the castle's balcony, weeping. Wario's Castle then reverts into Mario's castle, thus completing the course and beating the game.[5]

Notes[edit]
- Both the P. 6-Finale song from Yoshi's Story and theme song from Super Smash Bros. that plays while the player fights the Fighting Polygon Team in the Battlefield are similar to that of this course.
- If the player gets a Game Over in this course, it will become inaccessible until every Golden Coin has been collected.
