Sassy Squatch's Lair is the boss level of Ice World in DK: King of Swing, where Donkey Kong fights Sassy Squatch. The area takes place on an arctic cliffside, and only blue pegs appear in the level (possibly to correspond to the icy setting).


Donkey Kong starts in an enclosed area with a flat platform of ice acting as both the ground and the ceiling. There are eight Peg Boards. Just after entering, the entire area shakes, then Sassy Squatch punches its arms through the left and right side of the ice-covered ground. Its head then emerges in the center. Sassy Squatch pushes its left arm and right arm off screen, which causes the ceiling to break. Donkey Kong must avoid contact with Sassy Squatch, as this causes Donkey Kong to freeze for one second and lose a heart of his health. Donkey Kong must quickly continue climbing up more Peg Boards until reaching a dead end, with three pegs and two bombs.

Sassy Squatch does not use any physical attacks against Donkey Kong. It moves its head from left to right, attempting to hit into Donkey Kong. Sassy Squatch repeatedly opens and closes its mouth. Every four times of doing so, Sassy Squatch moves up its torso, attempting to harm Donkey Kong. To attack Sassy Squatch, Donkey Kong must pick up and throw a bomb into Sassy Squatch's mouth while it is open. By doing this, Sassy Squatch briefly glows red, then dark orange smoke puffs emerge from the left and right sides of its mouth. Sassy Squatch spits some spiked, icy objects above, which also freeze Donkey Kong if he gets in contact with them. The icy objects break open shortly after, each revealing a peg. From these pegs and more Peg Boards, Donkey Kong must continue climbing up to the next area. Each time Sassy Squatch is hit, it starts to move around faster.

Sassy Squatch gets defeated once it takes five hits. When this occurs, Sassy Squatch collapses in defeat, and an icy platform appears below, where the gold medal (or many bananas in subsequent battles) appears for Donkey Kong to collect. By doing so, Donkey Kong can continue to the final world, K. Kruizer III.
