The Annoying Orange[edit]

Annoying Orange reference
Mario in the The Annoying Orange episode "Super Mario".
  • In the episode "Super Mario", Mario goes to Bowser's Castle, but finds that it is empty, then goes to the area where Toad would usually be, and finds Orange. After being annoyed for a while, Mario is eventually hit by a Bullet Bill. Afterwards, Orange reveals that he saved Princess Peach and Toad hours ago, and that he "defeated" Bowser by annoying him until Bowser got angry and left.
  • Another episode depicted Orange and a mushroom annoying other foods, and at the end, Orange exclaimed to the mushroom, "Mario!" Mario then jumps onto the counter and eats the mushroom. Orange then complains to Mario, but soon cheers up. After that Mario says that he wants a Frog Suit causing a nearby frog's eyes to widen.
  • In another episode called Annoying Orange Vs. Mario Kart, Orange spits on a race track, causing Mario to crash into the side of the track, breaking his legs. Orange then laughs about it, stopping when he realizes that Mario is injured. After that, Bowser's, Donkey Kong Jr.'s, Yoshi's, Luigi's, Princess Peach's, Koopa Troopa's and Toad's karts slip on the mess, causing them to also crash into the side of the racetrack, blowing them all up. Orange, not wanting to get in trouble, flees. Lakitu then comes on the scene. When he sees the damage, he gets sick on the track.
  • A spin-off episode was made which was called Grapefruit Vs. Donkey Kong. It starts off with Passion Fruit being kidnapped by Donkey Kong. She asks Grapefruit, who is at the bottom of the 25m stage, to help her, saying that she is only asking because he is the only one there. Grapefruit then attempts to climb the first ladder. However, his weight on the ladder collapses the whole stage, knocking down Donkey Kong and causing him to explode in the oil barrel. Passion Fruit lands next to Grapefruit, who asks for a kiss. Passion Fruit hits Grapefruit, who says that that is close.
  • In Annoying Orange - Copper Lincoln: Let's Play Some Some Video Games Tonight (Song), Donkey Kong and a parody of Super Mario Bros. called Cat Mario is shown.
  • In MINECRAFT TNT VOLCANO! - This Week In Orangecraft #4, in the "Blockstar" section, sculptures of an 8-bit Mario and a Mushroom are shown, by someone called Eyebral.

Plumbers/brothers Mario and Luigi find themselves in the middle of a war as they go from plumbers for the castle to soldiers alongside Peach and the Smash Club, a group of fighters who lost their kingdoms to Bowser and band together to avenge what was taken from them. Parodies of characters from both Mario and other Nintendo franchises who so far have appeared are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Mushroom King, Bullet Bill, Shy Guy, Hammer Bros., Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K. In addition, the trailer portrays a Bullet Bill, one item that was not used in the Mario Kart series until Mario Kart DS.

GLITCH[edit]

  • The owners of this channel also own another channel called SMG4 (formerly known as Supermarioglitchy4's Super Mario 64 Bloopers), which almost exclusively uploaded a series of Super Mario-based parody animations. While the series features parody versions of much of the main Super Mario cast and various more obscure characters, it is also noted for its original creations, such as the eponymous SMG4 (an avatar of the channel's creator dressed like Mario), an Inkling turned human named Meggy, and the villainous Mr. Puzzles. One of this channel's videos, titled "SMG4: Stupid Mario Rabbids" (released on August 26, 2017), was sponsored by Ubisoft to promote Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.[4]

  • The character Bubble has a design that resembles that of a Chain Chomp.
  • In both episode 1: "Pilot" and episode 2: "Candy Carrier Chaos!", characters vomit a metallic liquid that uses the same reflection map texture used by Metal Mario and the entrance to Hazy Maze Cave in Super Mario 64.
  • In "Pilot", when Jax, Kinger, and Gangle pass through a hoop on their way down to the Gloink Queen's nest, the sound effect for opening the correct treasure chest from Super Mario 64 can be heard.
  • In episode 3: "The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor", Ghostly, a ghost that introduces itself as the characters' guide, is promptly sucked into a vacuum that Jax is holding. When confronted about this, Jax says, "What? I thought we were supposed to capture all the ghosts", referencing the gameplay and objective of Luigi's Mansion.
  • In episode 4: "Fast Food Masquerade", the fanfare that plays when Spudsy's is first shown is based on the board intro jingle from Mario Party.[5]
  • In episode 7: "Beach Episode", the scene in which Abel, Pomni, and Ragatha enter the wall that leads to the administrator zone may be a reference to the entrance to Shifting Sand Land in Super Mario 64, as the wall is similarly a secret portal that ripples as it is passed through.
  • In episode 9: "Remember", a photo of Abigail at a Halloween party with a friend in a Mario costume is shown. At the end of the episode, Pomni smiles and waves to the camera before walking away, framed in a similar manner to how Mario looks to the camera before walking away in the ending to Super Mario 64.
  • On December 2, 2025, GLITCH updated "thewackywatch.com", a promotional website for The Amazing Digital Circus, to feature a painting program named Caine Paint, in reference to Mario Paint and Kid Pix. The title screen features Caine in a very similar pose to Mario on the box art of Mario Paint, with a brush in one hand and giving a thumbs-up with the other.
  • In celebration of the then-upcoming theatrical release of The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act, GLITCH's official social media accounts posted a render of Pomni, Kinger, and Ragatha snowboarding based on group artwork of Mario, Luigi, and Peach from SSX on Tour. Another social media post made after the premiere featured a render of Pomni based on the key artwork for Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix.

  • In "The Worst And Weirdest of Candy Land", Kam notes that the character Gloppy is the only character to not be redesigned in the 50th Anniversary edition of Candy Land compared to the 1999 edition, saying "...much like the humble Shy Guy, you can't improve an already perfect design."
  • In "The WORST Tabletop RPG's", during a parody advertisement for the game F.A.T.A.L., the narrator advertises that the game encourages the players and game master to make each other's gameplay "as miserable as possible", to which Kam jokes, "Wow, just like Mario Party!"

Mario appearing in Luzării de pe Electrolizei
  • The episode "Luzării și Vrejul Fermecat" (eng. The Losers and the Magic Beanstalk) of the Romanian animated web series Luzării de pe Electrolizei involves Mario helping the main characters destroy a magic beanstalk that has grown out of one of their friends' rectum. Mario exclusively talks in English throughout the episode, although he is able to understand what the other characters say and converse with them freely. He is affectionately called "Marius", a common name in Romania, by one of the characters.
As Frătzică and C8ilu' reach the top of the beanstalk to seek a solution to their problem, they enter a Coin Heaven-like area, where they find a "plumber" whom they agree to ask for help. The plumber explains that there are two ways to get rid of the beanstalk, the first one of which involves using a Super Mushroom; however, when Mario hits a ? Block above to produce a mushroom, the characters accidentally let it slide into the beanstalk, causing it to grow even bigger and the Hungarian Bulan to scream in pain down below. The second way to destroy the beanstalk, Mario explains, is to hit with a Koopa shell, which he is willing to sell for 10 coins. While C8ilu' goes to get coins from a nearby ? Block, Frătzică asks Mario if his wife is well, to which Mario answers that "the Princess is okay, taking piți-photos in the bathroom with the iPhone". When C8pilu' is finished, he offers the coins to Mario and the two protagonists receive the Koopa shell in return. Mario warns them that the shell is unstable and instructs them to throw it onto the beanstalk, which causes it to shrink down. Frătzică thanks Mario for his help and, as a sign of gratitude, invites him and Luigi to a barbecue some other time.

  • At the end of the video "Candy Crush The Movie (Official Trailer)", wherein Ryan and his friends portray smartphone game apps, a voice is heard saying "Looks like you guys should use some help." After Ryan (portraying the Candy Crush Saga app) asks who the speaker is, the latter reveals himself as Greg wearing a Mario costume and a sheathed sword on his back saying "It's-a me... Mario."
  • In the video "Why Lamps!?", during the scene where the little lamp flies through the sky after his apparent "death", it flies through a line of coins on Brick Blocks and collects them.
  • In "How To Act Like Your Favorite Actors", while doing an impression of Matthew McConaughey, Ryan says, "Sometimes you gotta go back to actually move forward. I don't mean that like some fancy metaphor, I mean literally, when you crash into one of those big ol' green tube things in Mario Kart, gotta press B and reverse a little, then you can keep goin'."
  • "The Nintendoe Paper!", a parody video of consoles released by Nintendo, features many Super Mario references, including stop-motion paper animations based on Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and the Mario Kart series.

If the questionee answers the question correctly, they choose which of two ? Blocks they get to stand under, while if they answer incorrectly, the questioner chooses which block to stand under. One of the blocks has coins, while the other has a variety of gross junk. Although the hosts are usually the titular Rhett and Link, they were replaced for the one show by Game Grumps hosts Arin Hanson (who dressed as Mario) and Dan Avidan (who dressed as Luigi). The episode, titled "Super Mario Smash Block Challenge ft. Game Grumps", featured Dan coincidentally having items dumped on him in every round.
