The Real Beginning (also referred to as Girls Bonus 3 and Girls +3) is the third Girls bonus and last overall episode in the Story Mode of the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The episode is unlocked after completing A Trick of the Wind.

Plot[edit]

Bowser and Dr. Eggman come across each other in Hyde Park, and ask each other what they are doing there. They each reveal that they have come to collect their invitations, as neither have received them yet, and they come to the conclusion that Mario and Sonic have done something to keep them from entering the Olympic Games. They head off to find out about their invitations and run into Peach and Amy, and ask them about the whereabouts of their invitations. Peach and Amy explain that they have just finished making the invitations and that they will receive them soon, though Bowser and Dr. Eggman ask to have them immediately. Amy suggests that they play a round of Beach Volleyball to pass time, and promise to bring them their invitations personally afterwards if they win, though tells them that they will have to wait if they lose. Bowser and Dr. Eggman accept the challenge.

Peach and Amy beat Bowser and Dr. Eggman, though after seeing how upset they were, they tell them to wait there and promise to get their invitations anyway, and the pair head off. Blue and yellow Toads arrive, and Bowser and Dr. Eggman stop them to ask them what they are doing. The Toads explain that they were helping with the invitations and were heading to mail them off, though Bowser and Dr. Eggman get angry with them for causing the delay and scare the Toads off, causing them to drop a pair of invitations. Bowser and Dr. Eggman investigate the invitations and recognize the handwriting as Peach and Amy's, causing them to believe that they are love letters to Mario and Sonic rather than their invitations. Believing that to be the reason for the delay, they take the invitations and head off sightseeing, and plan to wait for their actual invitations to arrive in the mail. Daisy, the purple Toad and Blaze arrive after mailing off the last of the invitations and notice Bowser and Dr. Eggman leaving with the invitations, closely followed by Amy and Peach and then the yellow and blue Toads. The group come to the realisation that Bowser and Dr. Eggman's invitations are missing, though Blaze theorises that the Toads dropped them and the invitations were what they saw Bowser and Dr. Eggman walking off with. The group agrees that is most likely what happened, and celebrates the completion of all of the invitations. Daisy suggests that they can go shopping now, and Blaze tries to head back to the hotel, but the group convinces her to go with them and they all head off.

After this, text appears onscreen explaining that Bowser and Dr. Eggman forgot about the invitations during their sightseeing trip, causing them to begin their plot to stop the Olympic Games using the Phantasmal Fog. This is followed by the credits, which feature images of 100m, Rhythmic Ribbon, Donkey Kong competing in Football, Rowing - Quadruple Sculls, Metal Sonic competing in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, Shadow competing in Long Jump, Mario and Sonic competing in Judo, Amy and Daisy competing in 100m Backstroke, BMX, Bowser competing in Weightlifting, Yoshi competing in Trampoline, Synchronised Swimming (Team), Waluigi and Dr. Eggman competing in Taekwondo, Mario, Luigi and Sonic competing in 20km Race Walk, Wario competing in Badminton (Singles), Donkey Kong and Knuckles competing in Boxing, Daisy competing in Show Jumping (Team), Mario competing in Archery (Team), Vector competing in Javelin Throw, Bowser Jr. and Silver competing in Water Polo and a picture of all of the athletes plus Toad and Omochao, which at the end gains the words "Thank you for playing!" and animates Mario and Sonic, as well as the addition of pillars at the side containing the athlete's Emblems
