World 8 is a cosmic-themed world in Dr. Mario World. When the areas are cleared, Lumas of different colors appear, including yellow, blue, green, and red, along with Toads in astronaut suits, Star Bunnies and Octoombas. The viruses featured in the regular stages are red, green and light-blue.

Profiles

  • Dr. Mario World Twitter:
    • Red: "Apparently new stages are gonna be added at 1 AM PT on Oct. 4. We might get to travel to outer space and see a whole new galaxy! Wait a minute…these round stars sure do look familiar..."[1]
    • Blue: "It appears that new stages have been added once again! The structure seated among them is known as the Comet Observatory, and it's used for travel from galaxy to galaxy. Such a shame it can't be used to escape these pesky doctors!"[2]

Area 1

Image Stage Overview
Stage 281 from Dr. Mario World Stage 281 This stage introduces Keys, which float to the top of the stage until it collides with an object, and will not disappear until it comes into contact with a Door. Viruses are hidden in the third and fourth rows of bricks.
Stage 282 from Dr. Mario World Stage 282 This stage contains viruses that are blocked by Crates (each requiring 4 matches to clear) except for the bottom, with two keys outside of it. Instead of clearing all the viruses, the objective of this stage is to clear a path for the Keys to reach the Doors.
Stage 283 from Dr. Mario World Stage 283 This stage features Lock Blocks and Floatie Viruses that obstruct the path between the keys and the doors, in addition to Crates. Shells and Exploders (added since version 1.3.5) are available to help clear the path.

Prior to version 1.3.5, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

  • Capsule count is raised from 41 to 45.
  • Exploders are added directly above the keys, replacing crates.
  • The virus on the top-left is changed to a Floatie Virus while the virus directly below it, originally a Floatie Virus, is changed to a regular virus.
  • Additional viruses are added directly above the bottom-most row of boxes.
  • The bottom-most row of crates now require two matches to clear instead of three.
Stage 284 from Dr. Mario World Stage 284 This stage features Virus Coins, where the ones at the top and bottom rows must be cleared before the ones on the left and right columns are unlocked. Both Viruses and Virus Coins must be cleared to clear this stage.
Stage 285 from Dr. Mario World Stage 285 This stage contains viruses above and below Empty Blocks on the top part of the stage, in addition to Shells and Exploders. On the bottom portion of the stage, Viruses in the shape of a "U" is on the left, along with bricks hiding viruses in the middle and bricks containing coins shaped like a "U" in the bottom-right portion of the stage.
Stage 286 from Dr. Mario World Stage 286 This stage introduces Colorful Crates, which can only be broken if a like-colored match is made adjacent to them.
Stage 287 from Dr. Mario World Stage 287 This stage features Floatie Viruses encased in Colorful Crates.

The capsule count is raised from 39 to 42 since version 1.3.5. Besides that, this stage is otherwise the same.

Stage 288 from Dr. Mario World Stage 288 This stage features Lock Blocks with the unlocking capsules and Floatie Viruses situated between rows of locked blocks.
Stage 289 from Dr. Mario World Stage 289 This stage featues Viruses encased in ice forming a square, along with Crates, Keys and Locks forming a diamond with Brick Blocks inside the formation.

Prior to version 1.3.5, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

  • Capsule count is increased from 39 to 43.
  • A number of crates changed from requiring three clears to two.
  • Viruses can currently be found in Brick Blocks.
Stage 290 from Dr. Mario World Stage 290 This stage features Caged Coins locked behind Lock Blocks, which requires clearing the Virus Coins in the middle and the Lock Blocks to be unlocked to fully unlock. In addition, Caged Coins are found in Brick Blocks that are unlocked after the first set of Caged Coins are cleared.
Stage 291 from Dr. Mario World Stage 291 The objective of this stage is to clear all Crates and Viruses. There are light-blue Lock Blocks that require clearing the middle of the bottom-right formation to unlock. Ice Fans and Bubble viruses are found in the bottom-right formation, in addition to the lock capsule. Shells can be found in the bottom 3 rows of Lock Blocks.
Stage 292 from Dr. Mario World Stage 292 This stage contains Crates and Brick Blocks locked behind red Lock Blocks, with the lock capsule situated at the topmost row. It also features Floatie Viruses on the left and right rows, along with Exploders confined within the structure.
Stage 293 from Dr. Mario World Stage 293 This stage features Brick Blocks containing Coins, along with Coins interspersed among Viruses at the third to seventh rows.

Prior to version 1.2.0, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

  • Coins at the third to fifth rows are changed to Caged Coins. Clearing the existing Coins will unlock the third row of Caged Coins, and clearing that row of Coins will unlock the rest of the Coins.
  • The top row of Brick Blocks do not contain Coins.
  • Additional viruses are added to the third row.

Prior to version 1.3.5, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

  • Capsule count is increased from 40 to 42.
  • Two Crates are added in the middle column.
Stage 294 from Dr. Mario World Stage 294 This stage is shaped like an right-angle rainbow, and contains Lock Blocks that contain Colorful Crates in the light-blue and red ones, and Ice Fans in the green ones. Additionally, Viruses in Bubbles are found throughout the stage.

The capsule count is raised from 33 to 36 since version 1.3.5. Besides that, this stage is otherwise the same.

Stage 295 from Dr. Mario World Stage 295 The objective of this stage is to clear all Viruses and unlock all Doors. This stage contains Colorful Crates and Viruses around the crates, including Dust Viruses. Additionally, a Shell and Exploder appear on the middle row.
Stage 296 from Dr. Mario World Stage 296 The stage layout is shaped like a mirrored percentage symbol (%). On the "dot" portions, viruses are surrounding Ice Fans, plus there's a Lock Capsule located on the top portion. The lock capsule will unlock the Exploders, which are sandwiched between Viruses encased in two layers of Ice.
Stage 297 from Dr. Mario World Stage 297 The objective of this stage is to clear all Viruses and unlock all Doors. Between the Keys and Doors are Colorful Crates. Viruses are found on the left and right of the Colorful Crates and Doors, with an empty middle column.
Stage 298 from Dr. Mario World Stage 298 This stage features viruses hugging against Ice Fans, along with Colorful Crates that block the other side of the Viruses and a lone Virus in the top-left corner. Shells are available in this stage.

Prior to version 1.3.5, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

  • Capsule count is increased from 33 to 37.
  • Exploders are added within the red and green Colorful Crates.
  • Ice Fans are encased in one layer of ice.
Stage 299 from Dr. Mario World Stage 299 This stage features Lock Blocks, with the red lock capsule being more easily accessible compared to the green one, as it is surrounded by Viruses. The red Lock Blocks will unlock a row of Viruses including Floatie Viruses, along with a row of Crates that must be broken to access the top two rows of Viruses.
Stage 300 from Dr. Mario World Stage 300 The last stage of the first area, this stage has a unique objective: in addition to unlocking Doors (visible only after the stage scrolls), 25 red and light-blue Viruses are each required to be cleared instead of all of them, while clearing the green Viruses do not contribute to the objective. This stage will scroll for 1 line each time enough objects are cleared, and will stop after 7 lines are introduced.

When cleared, the rest of the first area in the world map gets cleared of viruses. Players also obtain the Star Bunny assistant upon completing this stage.

Prior to version 1.3.5, the stage layout was different. The following changes were made:

Challenge stages

Image Stage Overview
Stage 8A from Dr. Mario World Stage 8A Within an 85 second time limit, players need to eliminate all viruses. This stage consists of Dust Viruses on the two leftmost and two rightmost columns. Additionally, eight of each color of viruses are found, with the green ones located on the corners, while the light-blue and pink ones are found in the middle column.
Stage 8B from Dr. Mario World Stage 8B Within an 80 second time limit, players need to eliminate all viruses and Brick Blocks, in addition to collecting all the Virus Coins. Floatie Viruses are found in this stage, and some Brick Blocks are encased in a layer of ice. There are only pink and light-blue Viruses and capsules in this stage.
Stage 8C from Dr. Mario World Stage 8C Within a 85 second time limit, players need to eliminate all viruses and collect Coins from all Brick Blocks. The viruses are patterned after a dollar symbol, with the viruses forming an "S" while the Brick Blocks form two vertical lines across the letter. Players earn 1000 coins and a Staff Ticket (3 Hearts prior to version 1.2.0) if they complete this stage.

Prior to version 1.2.0, the virus icon showed only the yellow virus which should indicated that they are only needed to be cleared. This is an oversight since there are altogether 20 viruses, and clearing the non-yellow viruses count towards the total.
