Odyssey
The SM64 / SM64DS section on this page suggests the page be split into "! Block" and "Cap Block." I created a page for Cap Block, but it got reverted because the split wasn't discussed. Since it's suggested that Cap Block be its own article and I previously created a page for it, I think Cap Block should have an article. Also, this article doesn't have any pictures of the Cap Blocks, and if "Cap Block" is an official name and can be discussed in detail, it should probably have an article, where pictures of Cap Blocks can be, since putting the Cap Block pictures in the SM64 / SM64DS section on the ! Block article wouldn't look very good. If a Cap Block article is made, the Metal Box article could be merged with it. If that were to happen, the Cap Block article would have a SM64 / SM64DS section about all the Cap Blocks and a Smash section about the green ones.

There should be a third option to both split Cap Block and merge Metal Box with it. If Cap Block gets its own article, then I don't see a reason for Metal Box to be separate from it just because it's the one that became an item in Smash. In terms of the base Mario franchise, it's no more important than the other two. 20:27, November 30, 2021 (EST)

Location list
Cap Kingdom
*Central Plaza: Borderline, kind of noteworthy, but generically named and not that distinct from the rest of the kingdom since there are hat houses in other parts and it's generically named.
*Glasses Bridge: Keep, minor landmark mentioned in the brochure.
*Sometimes Bridge: Borderline, context of the name is that the brochure calls it 'The "Sometimes" Bridge', meaning it's not really a name and should probably be merged later, but whatever, it's not high on my priority list.
*Top-Hat Tower: Keep, it's a major landmark with a sub-area in it.

Cascade Kingdom
*Waterfall Basin: Merge, insignificant checkpoint location, and the checkpoint goes away once the Odyssey takes it's place.
*Stone Bridge: Merge, it's just a strip of land with nothing notable about other than it has a bunch of Burrbos on it.
*Fossil Falls Heights: Merge. It's basically just refers to the upper portion of the kingdom, which includes Madame Broode's battle arena. It doesn't really stand out geography-wise.
*Top of the Big Stump: Merge, it's just a tree stump.
*Island in the Sky (Cascade Kingdom): Merge, painting exit location.

Checkpoint Flag locations

Odyssey

Main article: Odyssey

The Odyssey lands in a secluded area south of the main part of the city. Nearby are some girders where Mario can find three regional coins. During Mechawiggler's attack on the city, there is a spark pylon on the blue tarp at the end of the girders which will take Mario to the city streets. After defeating Mechawiggler, Hint Toad and Uncle amiibo appear here, the spark pylon is moved closer to the Odyssey, and a Power Moon can be found inside the girders. Ground Pounding on the blue tarp where the spark pylon originally was makes coins pop out. Luigi also appears here after the main story's completion and hosts Balloon World.

City Outskirts/Main Street Entrance

The thirtieth Power Moon of the Metro Kingdom.

Depending on whether or not Mario has defeated Mechawiggler, there will be one of two Checkpoint Flags active near a small park (which is referred to as 'Squawks Park' on signs), both of which are reached via a spark pylon near the Odyssey's landing site. During Mechawiggler's attack, the Checkpoint Flag is southeast of the park and referred to as "City Outskirts". After Mechawiggler's defeat, the Checkpoint Flag is southwest of the park and referred to as "Main Street Entrance". At the Main Street Entrance, Mario can find a pair of Binoculars (through which the Sphynx can be seen after completion of the story) and a few New Donkers who welcome him to the city. Talkatoo and the Jump-Rope Challenge can be found at the park. Jammin' Toad, a Bonneter, and the Letters also appear at the park after the story is completed.

The music that regularly plays throughout the city plays as soon as Mario touches the ground here. As such, it is possible, at least briefly, to advance through the city without the music playing so long as Mario stays off the ground.
