In the second boss battle of World 1, [[Kamek]] uses one of his magic spells transform a yellow Gooey Goon into an over-sized tan Gooey Goon, [[Gilbert the Gooey]]. Twenty multicolored Gooey Goons will cover him. [[Blue Yoshi]] must eat them or destroy them to defeat him.

Gooey Goons[1][2] are blob-like enemies in Yoshi's Island DS that hang from ceilings. They appear in a variety of colors and hang down from different heights. Gooey Goons cannot be jumped on, but can be converted into eggs. Gooey Goons swing back and forth and knock the baby off of the Yoshi's back on contact. There is one giant Gooey Goon named Gilbert the Gooey, who was transformed from Kamek's magic.
