The Valley of the Monsters is the final location of the Adventure mode of Mario Tennis Fever. It is accessed after King Hisstocrat is beaten, after the Foggy Swamp. Enemies encountered here are Scuttlebugs, Fuzzies from the Fuzzy Horde, and Brolders, mini-bosses being two fights with Heavy Scuttlebugs, with the boss being Bowser and King Scuttlebug. This is the location of the golden fruit where it is key to recovery for Daisy's illness.
Overview[edit]
Before heading into this area, the party discovers that Bowser is heading towards the Valley of the Monsters and encounter Baby Peach on the way there through his crashed airship. The cave is filled with black fog that impedes the party's progress. The first two tennis matches involve Baby Mario requiring to hit three Fuzzies into the purple fog while avoiding hanging Scuttlebugs; the second match has more Scuttlebugs as obstacles. The third tennis match pits Baby Mario and Baby Luigi against a Heavy Scuttlebug shrouded in purple fog, where they both have to hit Fuzzies into glowing stone circles to reveal it. Dry Bones appear and form in this battle after the Scuttlebug is hit once to deflect hits from Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, though they collapse after a certain time has passed. After the large Scuttlebug is hit a second time, a second Dry Bones joins the first and deflects shots back. The third hit defeats the Scuttlebug. Defeating this turns Baby Luigi back into adult Luigi, as it turns out this Scuttlebug is the one responsible for Luigi's transformation.
The second section of this area, nearer to the golden fruit involves two tennis matches with Brolders as rolling obstacles that must be avoided. The three boulders blocking are surrounded by Fuzzies, where they attempt to attack Baby Mario by lobbing into him; they can be deflected to destroy the boulders. The second tennis match has more Brolders attacking Baby Mario. After this, another Heavy Scuttlebug is fought, where it tries to throw Fuzzies at Baby Mario and Luigi, and Brolders are also obstacles that need to be avoided, rolling on the left and right lanes of the course. During phase two, the Heavy Scuttlebug can shoot out energy blasts, where Baby Mario and Luigi must also avoid the Brolders rolling left and right as well as hanging Scuttlebugs. During the third phase, the Heavy Scuttlebug throws Fuzzies at Baby Mario and Luigi, also with Brolders and Scuttlebugs as obstacles, and deflecting the energy shot causes the Heavy Scuttlebug to approach closer and continue throwing Fuzzies. Deflecting those Fuzzies defeats this Heavy Scuttlebug, and its defeat turns Baby Peach back into adult Peach.
The party then encounters Bowser, who changed his plans after he found out he can manifest the powers stored in the tree of the golden fruit to grow even stronger, teaming up with King Scuttlebug in a final boss fight. Here, Baby Mario and Luigi must rally purple shots back at Bowser. While Bowser gets briefly downed, King Scuttlebug can warp Baby Mario and Luigi back to the ice temple of Waterfall Basin, where Bowser gets revived and Baby Mario and Luigi can continue fighting him, though they have to deal with the slippery ice. After Bowser gets hit with another purple shot, they get warped back to the Valley of Monsters, where Baby Mario and Luigi must hit Bowser inside his shell back and forth until they hit the King Scuttlebug. The next rally after is similar to the first rally, except King Scuttlebug shoots out webs on the field. The second time Bowser is downed, King Scuttlebug warps Baby Mario and Luigi to the Foggy Swamp where lava and fireballs are the main obstacle. After Bowser is downed here, Baby Mario and Luigi get warped back again to the Valley of Monsters, where they also have to rally Bowser's shell again to then defeat King Scuttlebug. This transforms Baby Mario back into Mario, revitalizes the tree, and the party rejoices and head back to Mushroom Kingdom via Daisy's airship to continue the Mushroom Kingdom Tennis Tournament.
