The Shadow Racket is a Fever Racket in Mario Tennis Fever. Players may use this racket after completing 2 tennis matches. It is a purple and black racket with a mostly opaque head, replacing strings with a dark blot with two glowing eyes. When a Fever Shot is charged, it glows purple and emits a black smoke.
The Shadow Racket is used in the Tower of Growth in the Trial Towers mode. In 5F "Even the Odds", the player uses Donkey Kong equipped with his racket against against Spike and Boom Boom.
Fever Shot[edit]
When the Fever Shot is activated, the Shadow Racket performs a Shadow Boost. After this, if the ball lands, it deals damage in a small area and creates a temporary computer-controlled shadow double (cosmic helpers on the Galaxy Court), an allusion to Cosmic Clone. If players are on singles, this creates a 2 versus 1 match, lending the user a noticeable advantage. For instance, the user may aggressively play the net while the shadow double catches lobs the opponent typically does to counter net play. The shadow clone's advantage may be overstated, however, since the shadow double's AI is not particularly powerful and can return weak, safe shots that are easily countered by the opponent or make very poor defensive plays, sometimes missing the ball altogether. If players rely too much on the shadow double to catch lobs, the opponent may simply use lobs to stall out the shadow double's time. The user also needs to be careful when the shadow double disappears, as this can let the opponent score an easy point if they hit toward a disappearing shadow.
