"Collect the Caps..." is the sixth mission of Dire, Dire Docks in Super Mario 64, where it serves as its final mission, as well as in Super Mario 64 DS, where it is known as "Inside the Cage". The objective of the mission is to get inside the Cage at the bottom of the second area where the Power Star is.

Layout

The player needs to make their way to the boardwalk in the second area. In Super Mario 64, the boardwalk has the blue and green blocks. After Mario puts both the Vanish Cap and Metal Cap on, he needs to long-jump into the water to close the distance between them and the cage and then walk over to the cage on the right. The player needs to move quickly, however, as the ability is temporary. The player can also obtain the Power Star with the Vanish Cap alone by long-jumping off the boardwalk and swimming inside the cage, although this can be tricky due to Mario's slow swimming speed. In Super Mario 64 DS, due to the changes to the power-up system, this method is required. The boardwalk only has the red block with a Power Flower on it, which Luigi needs to collect to turn into Vanish Luigi and swim down to the cage with the Star.
